The Hobbit 2 : The Desolation of Smaug! (spoiler alert)

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

Well, well! I went to the movies today! I went to see The Hobbit 2! Can you believe it, it's only a thin book but Peter Jackson (the director) is stretching it into 3 parts and each part is about 3 hours plus! Considering that The Lord of the Rings is 3 thick books but was only made into one 3 hour plus movie per book! But would you believe me that the movies are very interesting! I can't wait for the final part!

To the uninitiated, The Hobbit is the prequel to The Lord of the Rings. I highly recommend all of them! Both books and the movies!

I just love the special effects and the talking dragon! (Smaug). And the scene where they encounter Smaug is spectacular and I was very satisfied that they took pains to spin out the scene to my satisfaction. Go watch the movies but I highly recommend you see part 1 first. And also see The Lord of the Rings if you haven't already, and take it from me, you'll really appreciate the movies more if you read the books first, starting with The Hobbit! These were the books that made Tolkein famous!

I didn't even manage to exercise today bcoz I was in the cinema for more than 3 hours and I followed my Mom to get the weekly groceries. I bought some turkey ham and romaine lettuce for sandwiches. I love romaine lettuce bcoz they keep so well in the fridge! But the turkey ham was very expensive! Abt RM20 for 8 slices!

I even bought popcorn at the cinema! Don't you agree that cinema popcorn is so crunchy and yummy! I seldom go th the movies, so I consider the popcorn an occassional treat! But don't you agree that the portion sizes for popcorn and just about everything keeps getting bigger!

I love watching LOTR but sadly, for the second movie, I kept falling asleep, thanks to flu medicine and lying in bed LOL I only watched some scenes of Hobbits #1 (from the ASTRO movie package, I think it was Fox Movie) as I kept missing the beginning of the movie or thanks to a certain family member who kept changing the channels, haha.

Can't wait to watch Hobbit #2 - I have the books but haven't finished reading them yet but I love the writing. Perhaps I will get my own LOTR books, too :D

I like eat popcorns during movies but I usually choose the set with mineral water instead of soda, I think it's a better choice though always by end of movie, I will run towards the nearest restroom, haha.

    Hi Elaine, emoticon

We love Lord of the Rings (the whole series) and The Hobbit, and we have it on DVDs! I can't wait to watch The Hobbit 2!

emoticon for the great review!

You can give yourself a break once in awhile. I love Romaine Lettuce! I have yet to try turkey ham. I am not a big fan of popcorn. Overall, glad that you have had a pretty good day.

Take care & have a fabulous day! Merry Christmas! emoticon

I loved the Lord of the Rings, and have scene the first movie. I'll see the second after Christmas. My friend has that weekend off, and we're seeing it then. Glad you enjoyed it.

I loved LOTRs and read the books back when they first came out. Recently I saw the first Hobbit movie. I liked it. I'm sure I will want to see the Hobbit 2 also. Occasional treats are okay. And Yes, popcorn servings at the cinema are way bigger than they used to be, they also cost a lot more too. It's getting to where you can't afford to pay for the movie and get their food too.

Happy you got to go and enjoy yourself!! I keep forgetting how many RM are to the USD. At least you got some healthy food. Everyone procrastinates on exercise here and there. But you always seem to manage to make up for it another day, so don't be too hard on yourself.

I too enjoyed the movie, although I must admit I don't find this series as fascinating or wonderful as LOTR.

And yes, popcorn portion sizes--and everything else--are getting ridiculous!

Great review, thank you.
