Oh brother - how I know I have ADD! And ADD doesn’t mix well with Christmas. Too many additional distractions with all the commotion, things to do, and then add in all the twinkling lights, and need to read all the cards received. So today I’ve been attempting to tackling “house cleaning” and this, NOT being one of my favorite things to do, go figure LOL. Needless to say I’ve been moving from one task to the next, and then stop by to doodle a bit on the computer. Then needing to pull myself away to remind myself what my goals of the day were - house cleaning, get the tree up with at least lights, and to include 30 minutes of activity.
Well got the 30 minutes in with 2 SPARKS and hoping to enjoy a gong meditation as my treat this evening when I’m done with the house. Hoping it will have a calming effect to conquer this ADD as both kids will be home by the end of this week from college for Christmas. So I’m needing to get a bit organized before then. As those of you who live as part-time "empty nesters" will understand. When the kids return home on a break - it can become a whole different story from life as we remember.
I would like to have things done so I can enjoy their company as they are growing up and soon will be out completely on their own. So I really want to treasure these times they “choose” to come home and stay a while to visit. I know there will come a day that they will both have their own lives and I will be just a fleeting moment for visits. Christmas is a time to cherish the love of family and remember those who we have loved but now are now longer with us. May peace comfort all this season.
Boy, can I relate to this blog! Try carrying a kitchen timer with you while you work and set it for 15 minutes. At least then, when the bell rings it will remind you to get back on task if you've become distracted--and if you haven't been distracted, you can "reward" yourself with 15 minutes of doodling. Just don't forget to reset the timer every time it rings! LOL I know it sounds silly, but it really helps me. 1283 days ago
You are not alone, it sounds like my life the last two weeks and that pesky ADD keeps me jumping from one task to another and not feeling like I completed the tasks at hand. Finally a breather day and my youngest will be done with finals on Thursday and back in the house for the next three weeks. Yea!!!
