Changes and Purging

Sunday, December 15, 2013

I have been clearing my room for the last 2 days of all the things I can no longer wear. Today, that meant that there were an additional 14 full trash bags full of clothing that ranged in size from 54-56 down to size 12-14 that no longer fit me donated to various organizations that serve women in need. I had no idea that I would be so completely drained. I also had no idea this would be so very emotional. I am so glad I had the support and love of a friend there with me to help me through it. So very blessed...

Many people will be blessed by your generosity. It is always hard for me to part with clothes that were my favorites, even though I can no longer wear them.

I must do the same but will have to wait for my hand to get better.

one more step on the journey to healthy living- look at how far you have come, and think how many women will be blessed by your generosity. I think purging has always been emotional for me because it means I have to come to grips with who I am now~while many aspects are the same so many more have changed and trying to discover the new balance is exhausting. Glad you had a friend with you today emoticon

Getting rid of clothes is difficult, it's really difficult. I've donated jeans that I use to love, that I felt slim in, that I loved how they fit on me. Same with shirts. It's hard because those were the clothes you loved. Then all the sudden, it's a year later, and all those clothes you loved from the season a year ago is now too big and you think "well, I only got to wear this for a few months and I loved how it looked on me!" and now? It looks too big, but you hope you can make it work, although now you can't, so you must donate. It sucks, but it's a good thing because you know you're making progress because those clothes are now too big! It's a positive thing, but completely bittersweet at the same time.

You did good to let go of those things. You are a new you. You need new things.
