yesterday I met my daughter for lunch- she lives 3 hours south in Calgary, so we met in the middle, ate. visited, shopped and enjoyed some pre-Christmas time together. We both needed the outing because our province has been under an arctic high pressure air mass for the past week- cold- blizzardy- sunless. Today I found blue sky and sunshine
the temperature came up to just below freezing, road conditions were fair, although there was evidence of many victims of icy roads (20 vehicles still abandoned in snow banks where they slid off the road) on my drive down. Yes, it is the season of tough sledding- hard to get out to walk, harder to get motivated to exercise inside. Fortunately I am still doing okay with healthy choices when it comes to eating, and surprisingly my appetite is actually decreasing. I sometimes will find myself rummaging through the kitchen cupboards, pantry and fridge most often walking away because nothing there truly satisfies my craving. Still haven't figured out what that empty spot is but there is a restlessness that compels me. Maybe it is pushing me towards some strength training, or grabbing my swim bag and heading to the pool, or some quality time with my stability ball and Coach NIcole? healthy choices for movement are there, but I don't make them as often as I should- that is where my regrets lie at the end of the day. Today I MUST walk outside- take advantage of a nice day before the temps bottom out again.
