One Is Silver, The Other Is Gold

Friday, December 13, 2013

I've met a lot of people since coming online back in the 1994. Friends....not so friendly people emoticon ...romantic interests emoticon ...my hubby....and some BFF. Some I met while on this healthy life style journey here at Spark and CalorieKing.

Then there was the chat friends. We had our home on the web in the form of 30something Chat, an HTML based chat site. It was kind of our own little soap opera in cyber space emoticon . I stumbled on it and soon was friends with two ladies (ticky and Harmony). Turns out one lived like 5 mins from me 9ticky). We met IRL (in real life). The site was run by a guy whose handle was Sleepless...he was actually in Oregon. I met and some other chatters at a chat party we held at the coast.

After he sold the chat site to another guy (his handle was Hatter), some of us migrated to a differnt chat site, Gathering Place. But some of us just couldn't resist the draw of 30something. We would do "drive by" PMs (private message, you could send one into the chat site without logging into it emoticon ). Now that was fun!

In the process of all this, some of us formed a group of very good friends..and we called our selves The Absolute Angels emoticon ...we had AAngels from all over the world. It was in 30something that I met the two men that became important to me..Hatter (yes..we had along distance thing..he was NYC, but we did have one weekend together IRL emoticon ) and the man that is my soul mate, Chuck...my hubby emoticon !

So why do ask do I bring all this up? Well..this week we've ALL found each other again on Facebook! emoticon And it's like the last 10 yrs away from 30something never happened. We have fallen right back into all the silliness, teasing, flirting ways. The difference is we're all older...we all settled (mostly) and now all that has taken on more of remembrance kind of thing. emoticon

It's GOOD to find old friends! The Girl Scouts used to have a song (yes I was one when I was much younger!) called Make New Friends, the first stanza goes like this:

"Make new friends,
but keep the old.
One is silver,
the other is gold."

That about says it all for me. All my friends, both new and old, are like gold and silver. Precious to me.

On the work front...I'm glad the week is over!

The workout front...got a full 5 days of 60 mins a day in. Eating was mostly OK...I stayed within calories most days.

Christmas shopping is done and packages shipped (and received!). I only work 3 days next week then off until the 26th.

So that's it for this Friday! Have a great weekend everyone!

One is silver the other gold is sooo true. The older I get the more important old and new friends become. It's always fun to meet people IRL. I actually met Calen (very cool).

Merry Christmas, enjoy your time off. What a great vaycay to be off till the 26!

Well that's a huge improvement over yesterday! Isn't it amazing to run into old friends on the internet like that? Too cool! Hugs, Calen~
