Friday the 13th!

Friday, December 13, 2013

Happy Friday the 13th. Ours started with a bang..... woken up at 6:30 by the smoke detector and the house filled with smoke... coming from the wood pellet stove....

And..... that wasn't all.

Then I noticed when I woke up later that the temp. in the house was only 15C and when I turned thermostat up, no furnace came on. So, tried resetting several times today - all to no avail.... so we've been waiting for furnace people for about 5 hrs. now.... ironic that it was 1 month ago today that they were here for the annual maintenance...hmmmm?

So, they say things happen in 3's..... wonder how much that means the bill is going to be? at least we do have the pellet stove, so we're not freezing

I really believe that when you have an annual check on an appliance, they rig it to need work soon. Sorry it was the furnace. I know the appliances here - except for the dishwasher and the garbage disposal - l are older. The dishwasher was 10 months old when it started leaking and I had to have a service call. Thank goodness it was still under warranty. Then the company tried for a year to get me to sign a service contract that cost more than the dishwasher. The water heater and the furnace are the originals - I think the condo was built in 1989. I just keep my fingers crossed. I really wish I had a fireplace. I had one in Alabama and used it quite often when our furnace would go out on us.

What caused the smoke from the stove; was the chimney plugged? Glad it wasn't worse, though smoke can make a mess if it's bad enough! Hope you get your furnace fixed! We're expecting another snowstorm here!

Okay, why was there smoke from the pellet stove? What a horrible way to wake up! Glad everything is okay, minus the cold, of course. Hope the rest of this day is good for you

\o/ Thank the good Lord for that pellet stove! \o/

Today has been a lovely day -- we had windows opened to bring in the cool mountain air.

A blessing came in the form of not being charged seventy-five dollars for a service call -- we were having trouble with a window not staying up when we wanted it opened -- the guy was here just five minutes -- seems the problem was simple to correct -- what a sweetheart he was to not charge for his travel & time. God bless him!

    Keep warm!

    God bless!
