The danger in this case is food-bourne illness. My daughter just lost a day's work due to the culprit. In the past she has noticed that eating salads in restaurants frequently turns her stomach and she get the diarrhea bug.

According to the Reader's Digest version "Health" the simple reason for this is, greens aren't washed properly, if at all by many restaurants. The FDA says to be particularly wary of restaurant salads and to always clean prepackaged supermarket greens even if the label says "pre-washed".

Gotta wash those greens. I won't eat salad in restaurants any more - only cooked veggies. Thanks for posting this.

Interesting perhaps it is a good thing I have an iron stomach.

Been there, done that. Salads can ruin your whole weekend. Hope she's feeling better soon.
