A nice day... but a little cold

Thursday, December 12, 2013

My niece had a doctor appointment this morning, so I didn't have to wait for her today. Instead I took the dog for a walk, then spent ten minutes scraping ice off the car, so I could drive out to my parents' house. Thankfully dad had already plowed, so I got up their driveway without much trouble. Then my brother, Jeremy, and I decided to go snow shoeing. Fun, fun, fun! He tired out faster than I did so we were only out for about an hour. After snow shoeing I had lunch with mom and dad (lamb stew and cabbage with apples). I took Cooper for a walk on the trail we had just made with the snow shoes. Jeremy gave me my Christmas present... a homemade balaclava and hood hat set. He said I have to wrap it and bring it to our family Christmas dinner, so I can open it. I think gaiters go on my want/need list for clothes and assorted gear. My pant legs got completely caked with snow when we were snow shoeing, which is fine until... it melts. Cooper slept on dad's lap wrapped in a blanket while we were out. Came home and did my Spark stuff, then paced over 1.5 miles in my apartment, after taking the dog for a short walk. Did some yoga, my abs challenge workout and 10 minutes on the elliptical. Now I am going to curl up with Cooper and read. I have to scrub the pot I used to make dinner last night before I can make dinner tonight. I have plans for a healthy meal of cabbage, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and chicken. I had basically the same thing last night, and really enjoyed it. It bears repeating. I have some habanero hot sauce to pep it up.

Overall, it was a nice day and I get to do it all again tomorrow, including the snow shoeing. The forecast calls for another 3-5 inches of snow overnight, so there will be plenty of snow. LOL! The windchill is about -3F, and it will probably get colder overnight. I have a feeling Cooper's walks tomorrow will be short.

You are absolutely AMAZING!! I'm so proud and inspired by you.

As far as the snow on your pants, try a pair of hunting socks over the top. I learned that as a kid working the dogs with my dad. The hunting socks keep the snow and ice on the outside and you just shed them as soon as you walk in the door.

You're doing great, however, despite the weather.

You are such an inspiration when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle. The meals sound so Yummy. I love cabbage, but my DH just doesn't so I don't cook that many meals with it. Our temperatures here are getting a little warmer, but they do expect snow during Christmas. Jeremy sounds like a cool guy, plus talented. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
