We had our building sponsored Holiday Appreciation Lunch yesterday. We have a cafeteria in our building so this was a lunch provided in the cafeteria for everyone for free. Ooooh, roast beef and aujus, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, salad and cobbler for dessert. Well Im not dummy Im not going to turn down a free lunch! But seriously? I took all of it and the best thing I can note in 'self control' was not eating the dessert because 1. I was too stuffed after eating the 2 slices of roast beef on my plate (just because it was there doesnt mean I need to eat it all) potatoes, green beans and 2 rolls with butter; and 2. it wasnt that good. I never even touched the salad. I wanted to eat my meal before it got cold. I mean I just completly forgot about my recent strivings to eat reasonable sized portions in the light of 'free'. It was good (although not great) and I guess I can say I got my protien for the day! I didnt even feel guilty doing it, or pause or anything, just enjoying the company of my friends and the free lunch. It wasnt until I was done and uncomfortably full that I even thought about it. Like i said I passed on the dessert at that time because I tried a bite and it wasnt that good. The only word that describes it is: amnesia.
So, too offset, I had a light supper. And I made my C25K run.
Tomorrow is pur office holiday potluck ( its that time of year
) and white elephant gift exchange. I plan on being 'present' and making good food choices. I dont know what I will bring, probably soda, because my daughters birthday party is Sat and I dont have time to make anything. Any suggestions on healthy, EASY,QUICK potluck offerings? Thanks!
