Still Sick :/

Thursday, December 12, 2013

I ended up leaving work early yesterday so that I could get some rest. I wasnt doing anything productive, my throat was killing me, and I was starting to fall asleep on my desk. So I went home and took a nap. Ate dinner and then got back into bed and read until about 9pm when it was time to go to sleep again. My throat was hurting so badly that it hurt to take a deep breath in! How crazy. Today my throat is not hurting as much so that is good. I am still tired and coughing a lot, though. I didnt particularly want to stay home though, so I am back at work today with my cold medicine and some warm coffee to soothe my throat a bit. I hate being sick. Seriously, I went like a year and a half not being sick, and then all of a sudden since September I cannot seem to stay well for too long! I dont know what happened. I eat better, exercise regularly, take my multi-vitamin. I am sure this crazy weather we are having isnt helping. And travelling, too. Luckily, I have minimal work to be doing right now so I can afford not being productive for a while.

The Air Force announced some force retention stuff yesterday - looks like they will be doing voluntary and involuntary separations to reduce the size in the total force. I am not eligible for voluntary separation, but I am eligible for involuntary separation. I dont particularly want to separate, so hopefully I dont end up being RIFed (reduction in force). So far, the JAG Corps has not set any guidance out yet - the announcement was only made yesterday. Back in 2010/2011 they did a RIF and most people I know survived, except for one person who had received negative paperwork for a DUI. I dont have negative paperwork, and I think I do a good job, so I dont feel a particular need to worry right now, but I know it will be in the back of my mind until there is some finality to the guidance/decisions. Last time enough people voluntarily separated in the JAG Corps that there wasnt a huge number of involuntary separations happening. Guess time will tell.

In the mean time, I think it's starting to be that time where I have to make some new goals for 2014. So I think I am going to take some time to figure out what my priorities are for next year and the best ways I can attain my goals. I plan to make SMART goals and unlike previous years, keep them somewhere visible so that I dont forget about them!

My new Erin Condren Life Planner shipped today so I am very excited about that! It actually has a place each month to write out your goals, which is kind of nice since I also make monthly goals on top of my big yearly goals. Definitely plan to focus on better organization next year!

I feel like FedEx is going to be at my house a lot the next few days. All of J's Christmas presents have shipped so I am waiting for those to arrive, my Life Planner shipped, my Bark Box for my dog shipped, my Birch Box (with beauty samples) shipped, and my new Stitch Fix box also shipped! It's going to be like a party on my front porch this weekend!

Also tomorrow is J's holiday party - looking forward to wearing my new dress. I'll be sure to take pictures. His coworker sent me the itinerary for the party tomorrow: cocktail hour / dinner / dessert/ white elephant gift exchange. Should be a fun time. Hopefully I'll be feeling even better tomorrow!
