How to Break Teeth
Thursday, December 12, 2013
My dentist said the number one tooth breaker is ice. Second, popcorn kernels. It was crunching down on the latter that broke my tooth. I've been very fortunate. I've never had a cavity, not once in my entire life. For 53 years I've had perfect teeth. But this week I chomped down hard on an unpopped popcorn kernel and broke a tooth. It was not just a chip off the old block either. It was more like an ax splitting wood. The tooth can probably be saved but at a hefty cost. That foolish mistake will end up costing me well over a thousand dollars til its all said and done. My wife has been telling me for years not to chew on popcorn kernels (and ice) but I didn't listen. I've been chomping away as if my teeth were anvils. Well, I will change my ways. Sorry kernels, you will be sent straight to the compost pile from now on! The good news is the scale shows progress in getting back to my target weight and I don't think I lost that much tooth to account for it.
