Walking is Peaceful

My walk today was wonderful. It was really nice out. Cool just bordering on cold but not too cold. A nice snow was falling and it sounded - peaceful. Yes peaceful. You could hear it hitting the trees, the dead leaves still on the trees. It was nice and made me glad to be outside enjoying myself. I am really loving my walks home. Still miss the biking but there is much to be said for walking too. I get to listen to my books, I get to see my own breath in the cold (it's a weird thing that I like), I get to be by myself. In this busy world it is an opportunity for me to just be. I do a little thinking, listening to the outside and the book, laugh out loud if I want. Sometimes I will pick up returnables if I have a bag with me. I found my new walking stick while walking home one day this way. The red tip caught my eye and I had to go into a ditch to investigate and discovered what appeared to be some sort of antenna. But the length was just right and it felt to be about the right weight. I walked with it the rest of the way home and it has become my constant companion ever since. It really helps me with my pace. And I can twirl it if I want (I tried it out last week and I can still twirl!). Yep, walking is pretty fun and I'm looking forward to this winter.
