Happy holidays, everyone!!!

This is one of those crazy, long blogs-if you just want to skip through and drop me a quick "You can do it!", that works for me!!! =)

So I just read the article about not taking a break during the holidays, finding a nice middle ground that might slow weight loss, but not stop it completely. The problem is that I know right now I am gaining weight already. One of the worst things I have recently noticed is that my 'baggy' jeans are now so tight that I *CRINGE* wore through the inner thigh. Oh, sigh. The last time I weighed myself, I was gaining weight fairly steadily, but I haven't weighed myself in about a month or so. I think that I might have slowed down my weight gain, or at least maintained for the past month. I went pretty crazy there for a moment.

As I am coming up on my second year anniversary with SparkPeople, I have decided once and for all, to finish my weight loss goals and start my maintenance goals. Starting in January, I will be tracking diligently, exercising regularly, and the best part is that my honeydew said that he would like to do it with me! (He has slowly gained a bit of a tummy in the past couple years.) We have decided to devote ourselves to this, including sticking pretty solidly to the SparkPeople menu, which helped me a lot last time.
Here are some of the aspects of my plan:

-I am currently trying to get back in to the habit of working out three days a week, coupled with strength training on every other day. I am hoping I can get the habit in place for when I start tracking my calories, so I'm not trying to do two things at once.

-I am being mindful of what I eat (although it is rarely within my calorie range) and I am trying to drink my water and eat my veggies. Again, setting myself up for success. Hit the ground running!

-Starting Jan. 1st, I will follow the grocery lists fairly closely (I am a master at saving money, haha) and I also will be planning out my week's menu on Saturday and then buying the groceries I need on Sunday. I am actually quitting my weekend job and making planning my job on the weekends. 1200-1500 cal daily.

-I will continue my exercise routine until my gift cards run out, then I might start running again... I love running in late winter/early spring. Anyway, I will be staying active and changing my routine when it starts getting old. I will try new classes at the college as well, since I have a free pass to the gym there!

-My goal is to be 150 by July, when my friend's wedding is. It will be at Lake Tahoe, and it is an old friend from high school and I know a few of the people who are going to be there... It would be fun to look my best, feel good in a suit, dance with my honey, and not get tired before the night is over!

-150 by July means close to a 40 lb weight loss in 7 months. Like I said, I haven't weighed myself and I don't plan on weighing myself until Jan. 1st. I'm not sure quite where I sit, but I am trying to be healthy so I am not shocked when I step on the scale. Anyway, 40 in 7 is not hard to imagine! That is less than 1.5 pounds a week! Easy-peasy. (Kind of. Hah!)

-My mom hinted that she might get me a FitBit for Christmas. How awesome is that? Talk about a good motivator!

-I plan on having my days scheduled pretty tightly while I am actively losing, at least for the first couple of weeks while I am getting started. I have been writing out lists to help me remember when meals are, when I need to work/study, etc. It has been so helpful, especially with water tracking and sleep!

Hopefully, I will be able to hit the ground running and power through until I hit my goal, then start working on actively maintaining at a healthy BMI!

Any help, hints, tips, encouragement, any would be truly appreciated!!! Thank you!

I love that you have such a good plan. I know that you will stick with it and whenever you start having doubts, you know where to find me! (get a hold of me on facebook too!) I also want to lose 40ish lbs in the New Year. But mine is by August 25th which is my birthday. So about 1.18lbs a week to reach my goal. We Can Do IT!!!

I also read this article and resolved to stop over eating at parties; you could also give yourself small rewards for each month you succeed at eating right and moving your butt.
so far so good. keep it up!

It sounds like you have a great plan and I know you will follow through! I am looking to take off some of my freshly gained weight and then push full force come January 1st. I want to get to my goal and start my maintenance phase in 2014 as well. Let's stop dilly dallying and get the job done! :D emoticon

You have great goals and a realistic plan. Just don't get hung up on a number you want to be at by July. If you stay diligent with cardio, strength training and the spark menu, you will look amazing in July even if you do not drop the full 40 pounds.

I remember when Oprah lost a lot of weight years ago. They said she got down to 150. At that time I was a little over 150 and she looked way better than I did!

Stick to it, you will knock em dead at that wedding!

I wish you the very best, everyone starts over with new vigor and it helps to see the scale moving downward. I did it the first week of November because I didn't want to gain anymore in November and December.

I have a fitbit and LOVE it. Great motivator and my husband and 3 of our daughters have them too so there is friendly competition for steps each day!

Great plans!
