You can imitate the sound of walking on the snow by pressing on a box of powdered sugar. I must have watched something on sound effects, but I just think it is a cool sound. Good job getting your exercise in!

Me and my dogs do not go for a walk unless the temp is about 20 degrees
Admire those who can take the cold weather

Shelly, I think the reason you still love the snow is that you are still a kid at heart. I grew up in New York State and loved the snow as a kid. As an adult I moved to South Carolina and am fine with rarely seeing snow. Margo

I can't believe how much time I've spent outside this winter! I can actually tolerate the cold since I've been out walking in it! Plus it's fun to see all the Christmas lights (I'm usually walking in the dark since it gets dark so early)

I'm with you... I love snow to! I love getting out and playing with it... I love snow shoeing and hiking in it... I even love shoveling it! I have lived in Minnesota my whole life and we usually get a lot of snow. Most people complain about it but I truly do enjoy it. That is why I love living where I live.

Glad you are enjoying your snow as well! Thanks for taking us along on your snow walk!

I enjoyed your snowy walk! I live in Southern California and for a moment we had cold temperatures (40's) but this week it's back to the 70's and 80's!

I used to enjoy chopping holes in the ice over the street drains at melting time -- they would clog and freeze, then flood. I used my father's edger for the sidewalk/lawn junction, which he was not thrilled about but agreed that it *worked*, and that was all that really mattered.

I have snow and ice to contend with here in Maine. Mostly afraid to do much walking in the snow. I injured my knees from a bad fall in the snow and ended up with a lot of surgery and rehab..I use to do quite a bit of Winter sports.

Have a great time. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Fun to share your walk with you, especially in the snow. It does take me back to growing up in Colorado. Now that I live in SoCal, we have to plan to go to the mountains to visit the snow. Not sure I miss it, except around Christmas, lol. Thanks for a beautiful walk, loved the decorations in your neighborhood!

How neat! I've never seen anybody do this before.

I spent my formative years in Missouri, where they have terrific ice storms too. I like shoveling snow as you do. And I live in snow country now. Maybe I'll post a video from my archives some day. This summer, I thought about posting a bee on one of my blogs that was voraciously digging in one of my roses, but backed out.

I made a dedicated attempt to attract bees to my yard this year, and got more than I bargained for! I'm happy for the success, but our dog got stung on the butt and was afraid to go outside after that, especially out the back door. They were all over the place. I do have some bees on photos in my spark page, however. I got so many different kinds, I don't know what some of them are. Maybe some of them aren't really bees. Gardening is a main form of exercise for me in the summer, needless to say.

Your first snow fall story is familiar. My Texas born and raised husband said almost the same thing to me when he was experiencing his first Manitoba snow fall (a blizzard in fact). We went out and played in that snow. Sadly, for him the sparkle came off that snowflake rather quickly and all he does 26 years later is complain about the snow and the cold. It was -23 C (feels like - 37 C with the wind chill) today so I guess he has a bit of a point.

well the decorations on your walk are charming. It seems warmer and friendlier, but we have been getting late twenties up to 4o at night and we think that is cold. It's 50 something when we get up in the morning, siuce we turn off the heater. sounds aweful cold, but I guess not as cold as the east coast. Br-rrrr.

But the snow does seem enchanting this time of year... emoticon
