I thought this would be the most stressful holiday season I've ever had with Hanukkah falling right on Thanksgiving along with my grandson's 6th birthday. As it turned out my stress was for naught. My grandson loved his birthday gift and his party didn't steal any time from preparations.
My daughter-in-law's mother decided to invite everyone I would have at my house for TG to their lovely home in Sacramento. She gave out recipes for what she wanted everyone to bring and the recipes were pretty easy to make and came out awesome. I only had to prepare two recipes and I didn't even have to clean my house much.
Finally since my son is in Finance and he was horribly busy the last week in November and the first week in December, we moved our Hanukkah celebration to this past Saturday night. The only problem is that every traditional food for Hanukkah is fried so it is very hard to stay on track. The meal came off without a hitch all three of my grandsons loved their gifts and now the stress is over. I kept up my regular fitness routine throughout and manged to only gain a lb. We don't celebrate Christmas, so the rest of the month is smooth sailing.
My DH and I will head up to our house in the Sierras during the week between Christmas and New Years where we can relax completely.
Dang, Life is good!
