Accentuate the positive

I was reading a church publication today, and the subject of accentuating the positive was brought up and I realized how important that is for us on this journey. It is too easy to beat ourselves up when we slide backwards or make bad food choices, but instead we should look for what we are doing right and give ourselves a pat on the back. I too often think about the 150+ pounds I need to lose, rather than thinking about the 33 pounds I have lost in the last 3 1/2 years. So I need to remind myself of how I have accomplished this, and forgive myself when I give in to an ice cream here or there. And if I fail, then get back on track and forget the failure and work toward the next success. Hope everyone has a great week!

    So true!
Something that helped me a lot was to record my weight on the same day each month ( on the 20 th of every month) and put it where I can see it( my spark page for me) and when I'd get discouraged from my sometimes slow weight loss, I'd see that if I just kept at it, it would come off.
Plus it helped me focus on how much I had lost and not just on how much I needed to lose.

    I found that I trained my mind that I was unworthy to think good thoughts about myself. An unsupportive spouse only fueled that fire. Now single again, I am doing a much better job of boosting my ego and feeling better about all of my baby step accomplishments!!! You will do it if you want to. Hang in there! I have confidence in you!

    believe it or not I had to sing that song in Choir in 8th grade. I remember a little of it. my friend has a 40 days happiness journey where you go 40 days focusing on the positive and happy things and get rid of the negative.
