So who else is surprised to find us already a solid week into December?? I mean, it's the NINTH of December already, peeps!!! Crazy how fast this month is already going.
I have been crazy busy at work lately. This is normally a somewhat busy time for us anyways as we prepare for a short winter break; however, this year my boss is also going out for surgery on his hip so we are really cramming a whole lot of stuff into this period of time to prepare for his extended time away. I love being busy at work, so I'm definitely not complaining, but it definitely puts a crimp on "free time". :-)
I want to do a quick goal check-in, so let's take a look at where I'm at so far.
No candy from the office candy jar
STATUS: I'm on track so far!! There have been a few times where I have definitely WANTED to partake from the candy jar, but haven't. Not that I haven't had my fair share of sweets, but I'm not eating from the jar so I'm proud of myself! Last week I almost busted some money out of my purse to hit the vending machine, but then realized that I had some nuts in my lunch bag and ate those instead. Way better!!! Doing good on this one so far!
1,500 fitness minutes
STATUS: I have 371 minutes so far towards my 1500 goal. I don't work out on Sundays (usually) and haven't counted Christmas either so that leaves me with 19 more workout days this month and 1,129 minutes left - an average of 59.4 minutes/workout. With the long runs I'll be putting in this month towards my half marathon in January I think I am definitely on track to meet this goal. But it will take me not hitting the off button instead of snooze, yo!
Blog at least 1x each week
STATUS: I am hitting the MINIMUM here. Ideally I would like to blog more than just once, but last week was insanely busy and I'm expecting more of the same this week so I may continue to just hit the minimum. But it's better than nothing, right??? :-)
So as you can see, one week in and I am hitting my targets so far! But I don't usually struggle with only one week under my belt, that usually hits in weeks 2 and 3...so I am going to do my best to keep pushing!
So in other news...
We got our tree last Thursday evening and got it up and decorated...it's a beautiful tree but I have to say that the LED lights we got just aren't doing it for me. I just miss the brightness of an actual bulb, but I don't miss the safety hazard of lights that generate heat. So I guess I am going to have to get used to LED and learn to love them, right? We still haven't decorated outside, but will probably get to it sometime this week. I am about halfway done with my shopping but have, thankfully, been very unstressed about it this year. YAY!!!
As far as half marathon training, it is going GREAT!! I did have some knee soreness last week, but that eased up and I was able to do a long run of 9 miles this past Saturday with no issues whatsoever. Several of those miles were at half marathon pace to boot. I split my time between outside and treadmill as I only run outside when I have a running partner with me and my Mom had to get to work and my sister wasn't feeling well, so I was able to squeeze in 5 miles outside and the final 4 on my treadmill. It was awesome!
This coming Saturday I have the Holiday 5k race and I'm really thinking I'm going to go into it with no goal outside of having a great time. I'm looking forward to it and just don't want to put ANY kind of stress on my psyche right now...so why worry about pushing myself to a PR or something? Just go and enjoy the time outside is my thought process...and I'm liking where my brain is going on this one! haha
I did have a nice chat with my hubby this weekend and asked him for his help in reaching my weight loss goals. He is an awesome support and I don't want him necessarily being the food police, but many times he tells me that I "deserve" to not worry about it or to have what I want...so I told him I just want him to tell me good job and stuff when I do have my willpower mojo in full force. I have 37 pounds left to lose, so I broke it in to quarters and am going to just focus on each quarter at a time; which equates to 9.25 pounds at a time. Totally do-able, right??? I'm hoping that focusing on no more than 9.25 pounds at any given time will help keep me focused and pushing forward. Because 9 sounds a lot better than 37! hahaha
I'm not pushing too hard at those goals in December, but come January I am going to be doing some hard pushing on those once I complete my half marathon. :-)
Alright - time to get back at it - hope everyone is having an awesome December so far! Keep pushing towards your goals!!!!
