An Equation of My Own

Monday, December 09, 2013

Decided to take a challenge on one of the teams I am on to lose five pounds by 2014. I have joked about all of the stuff written about rapid weight loss and have decided to "try" a few things out for myself and report here on my blog. I usually gain a few pounds over the holidays, but I am planning to keep an eye on the sweets and the things that are usually my downfall -- peanut butter fudge, stuffing, chocolate chip cookies.

Anyway, DD and I have decided to put a few of the less offensive things together, along with our regular eating plans and exercise. I have difficulty getting in that exercise every day, so we are going to keep each other accountable.

So, what do we consider less offensive that we will add? We have decided to add extra vinegar to our salads, adding up to 3 T a day. I like things sour anyway, so no big change. Just going to be conscious of how much I am getting. Also, since we are tea drinkers anyway, we are going to try to add 3 to 4 cups of green tea a day. Usually, we drink all kinds of teas, but green is suppose to be a good antioxidant, as well as a metabolism booster. And, here's the biggie, we are planning to stay away from ALL sweet treats Monday through Friday this week (we have a party Saturday) and see if we can lose at least two pounds. We are both hoping that being accountable and paying particular attention to what we are eating, will get us off the plateaus we are on. If this works out, we will probably do it again next week. We have another party next Saturday.

This is great that we can do this together because we have a lot of the same things coming up, some of the same problems and temptations, and we like many of the same things.

Looking for good results and great fellowship with DD.
