Well this weekend was full of experiments and tests. Not on purpose, mind you. Friday was my Day 18 test-going out to lunch at a restaurant. That went well and I was able to order just things that have been tested-falafel (chick pea pattie), orange and goat cheese salad. It was very good and not salty. Lebanese just made "preferred" list of cuisine!
Unfortunately, hubby decided he wanted to go out Friday night. We went to red robin and I got a salad with chicken-hey, I was entitled to meat and a salad anyway, right? That was my plan for the night. The chicken didn't taste too salty, but that can be deceptive with chicken. I ended up .2 lbs up Sat morning. No big and it was probably the chicken. I moved on with day 10 and the pork chop experiment. I was pretty good for lunch-taking my leftover salad sans chicken to a birthday party/lunch thing so I wouldn't be tempted. I had no cake and didn't feel deprived! That salad was iceberg lettuce, though, not the good stuff and it left a bit to be desired. Then came the pork chops.
Those chops were huge! In retrospect I realize it was too big-I should have cut it in half! I ended up maintaining and was at the exact same weight Sunday morning. I'm thinking it was less a reaction and more a matter of just too much pork chop. So I'll test pork again in smaller amounts.
Sunday I went off the reservation and got a quesadilla burger at Applebees. I wanted a day off the plan-my brain was tired! In retrospect, the chicken salad would have been better. Extra salt is better than reactive beef! My stomach turned somersaults the rest of the afternoon and I ate almost no dinner. I was up .4lbs this morning. Not a big deal on the weight, but the physical reaction was horrid. So no more of that. A good learning experience is helpful now and again I suppose.
Today is Day 11-a Rest day. Thank Goodness! I was too lazy to pack my mixed greens salad today, so I'll pick it up at the cafeteria. I brought everything else with me. I'm ready for a nice boring day of regular food with no surprises.
