Day 3

I goofed up today because we went to breakfast after church and then to a movie. Eating out is a killer for me. I need to try harder when I go out. Anyone have advice? Have you been there?

    I cut everything in half on my plate. Eat the half and take the rest home in a baggie which is conveniently in my person. Then, I get to enjoy the left overs one more time for my next meal. Best of luck on this. Yes, I do the same with desserts when I am at a restaurant.

    Planning ahead helps, if you know the restaurant you can think about what you are going to get ahead of time and then don't even look at the menu. Fortunately for me, I don't like movie popcorn, it is too salty and too oily. Try what DeborahanneJane suggested and get it plain.

    I find that portion control when eating out is the key for me. Most of the time I bring half or more home. Also, I make a delicious trail mix and take it to the movies with my water bottle. I have given my trail mix to friends who then did not buy any popcorn as they were happy with the trail mix.

    I ate a large lunch on Saturday at a lovely restaurant. I had French onion soup, a cheeseburger, and mixed greens. I opted for greens rather than fries. I tasted two of my DH's fries. That was enough for me. I ate light for dinner--just a salad with grilled chicken.

Another strategy is to ask for a to-go box right away and pack half of your meal away.

One meal isn't going to derail you. Get right back on track immediately and you'll be fine. Life happens and we need to enjoy it, not fret about the food.

    Eating out has always been my downfall. Now I just try to make better choices. I love the movies AND popcorn. I used to get a large (because of the free refill of course), with butter (oil really), and a large soda. Now I get a small popcorn, no butter, water. The popcorn is usually salted well and I discovered I enjoy it just as well. Hope this helps
