A Salty Tale

Monday, December 09, 2013

Yes, I know,
It's all my fault
That I ingest
Too much salt.

It's gotta end
So I'll make this vow
To turn a new leaf
And start right now.

To limit my
Beloved salt
And no longer
Possess this fault.

All the best to you in your salt-less-ness. Are you completely weaned from coffee now? My goal for December is no sugar except for fruit and dark chocolate, neither of which I ever eat very much of. So far, so great. I'm thinking of you lots because you motivate and inspire me. Thanks for that:)
Have a lovely week.

You can do it. There are a lot of suggestions around SP for alternative herbs and spices.

I will admit I don't limit or worry about salt even though I know what the recommendations are. My blood pressure runs low rather than high and I don't have any problems with fluid retention.

I'm not a fan of salt. Cut out processed foods and you will have no problem.

Cute and you do have talent!

As to salt as in table salt and what is included in all processed "food", I agree that it should be totally eliminated from our eating it.

As to pure sodium found in raw veggies and sources such as Himalayan Pink Sea Salt, it is a necessary component for our bodies. At a much lower level than the FDA states!

I wasn't adding any natural sodium to my raw diet and hit a wall almost literally. Being as active as I am I sweat a lot. So now my program includes a certain mg amount of natural sodium.

Great goal! There is so much sodium in foods that often adding a little pushes way over the limit. *sigh* emoticon Good luck on your new goal!

I almost never add salt to my food. It can cause so many unnecessary problems!

I KNOW Salt enhances food. I put it on my watermelon. But not really on many things cause I swell from salt. Salt causes the blood to clot, causes plaque to clog in the blood. many people who use a lot of salt, don't even taste their food to see if it needs salt. So, then they end of having high blood pressure. basically it's clogged arteries. But they don't realize it. If they are a junk foodie also then they will get diabetes. So, now they have two diseases that lead to stroke or heart attack! I hope I have scared you, but I know that is highly unlikely. But I do hope that maybe you switch into Mrs. Dash, and realize you don't need it for soups. many vegetables have salt in them. and if you have to use it, try one that is less salty, like 33% less salt. good luck, and have a nice holiday. I really didn't start out thinking I would be so hard on someone. I apologize if I have done that. But I am now getting older, and know the diseases related to how you eat. I have one myself. I ate junk food going to college(pop & twinkies), so I basically damaged my pancreas, which made me have low blood sugar. take care, bye, eva.
