I almost feel like I stepped into the book I just finished reading called Mirage. Its about a parallel universe where 9/11 actually took place on 11/9 with Americans as the terrorists and Texas is it's own country. Actually wasn't a wet weekend so we did end up going to the cabin. Yes, its still 28 degrees with highs in the low thirties but not wet. Should have made it a good one and it was for the first one or two hours that we were here. This is the first time I slept all the way down here and I must have done alot of getting ready in my sleep too. I complained that I had forgot to pack my house shoes, but I did. Sure I packed my phone but I didn't. Stuff like that. But most unsettling is that I don't remember putting on this necklace at all and its a big honking chandelier.
Transplanted these at about 10 inches. Now almost shoulder high.
So we watched RIPD which was funny and then Ron went to the shed to get the ladder to put up his wagon wheel and comes back to show me tire tracks and the chopped off padlock that was sitting inside the shed. They didn't take anything!!! Either someone drove by and scared them or they noticed our security cameras. The thing is, we tried to bring up the recordings for a VERY long time and still are unsure if the dang thing has been recording at all since we got it. The instructions are very complicated so I told him he had to feed me so I could concentrate. Mexican food, four hours and a hundred dollars in new locks later, we're just getting back to try it again.
Started out just hungry but I never felt really full. Before we even left, I started feeling dizzy and disoriented and it still hasn't let up. As far as I know without internet access, its still 28 or so but not windy today so I even ended up having to take off my coat to go into the grocery store due to my unstable condition. The security cameras definitely worked when we first set it up, years ago, but we haven't had a reason to check it until now. Now it says the hard drive is unformatted. I have tried to format it seventeen BILLION times to the cheerful exclamation, 'formatting completed UNsuccessfully!' On the bottom of each page of the manual is a phone number to call for technical difficulties. When you call it, the guy says 'this is Tom and I will be giving you excellent service today...I guess you will have to buy a new disc...(disc?!? You mean the hard drive?!?) ...I'm really not very technical...' And this is the number they give you for technical questions?!? He ended up giving me the real technical support number. They are open Monday through Friday so I will be nowhere near the machine when I am able to contact support. I bought a 32 gig flash drive specifically for the thing and now I probably won't have use for that either. You can't record directly to the flash drive. You can only back up the hard drive to the flash and since it won't format the 500 gig hard drive, you can't record anything. But the cameras do work at least!
Ron got the thirty six dollar lock on the shed and used stickers to spell out 'smile for cameras!' but I have to buy a new drill bit before he can add the new locks on the cabin. Wheel doesn't fit where he wanted and my back is cramping and sort of feel flu-ey like a few weeks ago so that sucks. Probably a good thing we came and got this stuff figured out before dipsticks decided to come back and actually take stuff even though I would obviously rather be working on the house remodeling since it isn't wet as predicted. Didn't predict feeling so off either so...its always best to accept God's timing!
I got my performance eval for work this week with 9 competents and 14 commendables. Scored the same last year and got sixteen hours of administrative leave as a reward but nothing extra this time. That's ok. One more full work week and we start on the house. Two 3 day work weeks followed by a two day work week so one off day is pretty alright with me. Freaky that my Love Song rose is finally blooming for the first time in this freezing weather. Loving the gold and red trees around. 10pm Saturday. 40 degrees sitting on the deck with radio before bed.
Painfully obvious that I am determined to get myself sick. Woke up at 3 am almost sweating and had to go sit on the porch again. We just have two of those little home depot heaters that look like fireplaces and we had to also turn the fan on with them so we wouldn't get too hot. They work! I wanted to make Ron transplant this little red tree further into our land since it is right on the border where the neighbor might destroy it but he didn't. This morning, Ron informed me that what I was thinking was my squawking summer bird was actually a deer vocalizing in our neighboring wooded lot.
