My first city snow!

Sunday, December 08, 2013

We got a lot of snow today in Philly! It was kind of unexpected - I had heard only an inch or so, but it was much more than that. It was so beautiful - hubs met me up at my church to get our picture taken with the animals in the creche, and then we walked home in a LOT of snow. I have to admit, it was really nice knowing that I didn't have to drive anywhere. I don't have to drive to get groceries, I don't have to drive to get wine... bring on the snow!

I got in a 3.25 mile run this morning before church. It was cold, but I didn't mind. I have good cold-weather running gear. I think it's very peaceful, being out when there is not much activity. Usually it's so busy in Philly, so having the streets to myself is kind of fun.

After the Eagles game (and it was a good one!) hubs and I went out to see some Christmas lights and pick up some dinner ingredients (we are having veal, mashed potatoes, mushrooms with pearl onions, and baked pear and almond ice cream. I love being married to a chef!). The roads were empty, nobody was walking around... it's so neat to see usually busy South Street with nobody on it. I keep finding new things to love about living in the city.

So for the rest of the night I'm going to enjoy my wine and my dinner, and enjoy having a warm cozy place to hang out while it's snowy outside.

I enjoy reading about your move into Philly. I lived in Pittsburgh for a good number of years - my favorite times were the type that I think you enjoy...when I could walk everywhere and I did.....when I got snuck in the snow in my car...I walked home. It was harder once kids came along and had to drop them off at daycare and then school (of course....life goes on and now they are all grown up) So glad you're enjoying life in the city...the best parts of it (and that chef husband thing sounds YUMMY).
