In my peregrinations around the Spark site, I stumbled on the Writers Team. Since I'm a technical writer, I hung out for a while and found that the team had people coming and going, with the leadership in the "gone" category.
So I decided to step forward and ask to be co-leader. Lucky for me, another and much more experienced Spark member joined the team about the same time. He took on a leadership role as well. Any writers out there? Look for the quill and ink on my Info page and check us out!!
Our December challenge is to create one new nutrition and one new fitness goal, and then write a paragraph about it weekly to track progress. The goal is to combine writing talent with Spark goals, and help everyone stay mindful and healthy through the holidays!
I set my nutrition goal for December to return to the eating program that helped me lose weight to begin with - mostly based on Lyn-Genet Recitas' The Plan. And my fitness goal was to beat my 5k time of 47 minutes and 3 seconds by the end of the month!!
So for our Writers Team and others interested, here is my weekly paragraph:
I'm not doing well in the area of nutrition, mainly because I am grabbing a protein bar or something cold instead of cooking. Those of you familiar with Lyn-Genet's The Plan know that there's at least one relatively full "cooking" day a week. And I'm not doing it.
For fitness, I've achieved the goal "technically" by shaving exactly 1 second off my 5k time. I used interval training, alternating between 5.1 MPH and 4.2 MPH on my treadmill. That was a disappointing result since I felt like I was working very hard for that single second!! And I ended up with leg cramps and shin splints most of Friday night. I think I need to go slower (joining my friend THINFITRAWKIND) instead of faster.
So that's week one. Week two will be better. Or I'll want to know the reason why...
