Overall Feelings So Far

Saturday, December 07, 2013

This should be my sleep journal, but I'm finally getting better sleep. I still get up and down for the restroom 4 to 6 times a night, but at least I'm going right back to sleep.

I'm actually starting to wonder if it's not my Kindle that is causing the insomnia problem. Right now I'm reading from a regular book and going to sleep just fine. Any comments are welcome and appreciated.

As for my eating and diet goals and accomplishments, I'm not sure that I'm doing that well. Last night I was so tired, I forgot my insulin, but I didn't snack so my BS was high, but not as bad as it was snacking.

I've decided that little steps might be for the best, so I'm working on a goal of "no snacking after dinner"! I'm really hoping that this will help me make a dent in my calorie count and my weight loss. I am a night snacker from boredom and often get carried away. I'm going to work on this one goal for now and let everything else go for now. Just take my meds and eat sensibly and working on not snacking after dinner.

Thanks for the information everyone. I do appreciate it. I've tried sleeping pills but I take so many pills now that I hate to take more. I also have gone through the change so maybe that's it. As for the bathroom issue, I currently take ditropan and it doesn't seem to do anything. I'll keep working on it. I do believe it's the Kindle because I'm falling to sleep so much better since I'm back to reading regular books again.

Sorry, I was single for 18 years between husbands so I read at night in bed. Hubby is usually asleep anyway so I guess it doesn't hurt him. LOL!

I am suffering from insomnia for about 5 years now. Used sleeping pills as the cure for 4 years. I have the older Kindle, doesn't shed much light. It's the ipads and computers that we should stay away from. I've heard some people buying the UV glasses.

Bed is for sleeping and sex, nothing else. No TV, no reading.

Waking up so many times to go to the bathroom is not helping. There is medication for that. I took bladder control meds for a few years, and retrained my bladder.

Do you have lots of night lights on in your house? Your room should be pitch dark, even the clock.

These are little things that can help. My problem is hormonal (started when I went through "the change")

Hope this helps. It's sooooo overwhelming!!

I have to agree with NellieC on the Kindle. One reason why we are supposed to stay off the computers while we are trying to wind down for the night. The light causes issues in the brain.
    Have a great week.
    Blessings and hugs,

Thank you both so much. I'm working on both of these things slowly. No more Kindle, and small steps to better health.

It very well could be the Kindle since I understand that lighted screens stimulate you to be more awake.
