New Year - New Challenge - Tales from 100# Down

Soon 2013 will be in the history books and while I COULD look back at the road behind me (and it's been a long road) I'm going to look FORWARD to what lies ahead. Three years and four months into this journey to "Health & Fitness" I have made much progress and many Sparkpeople friends but I have a long way yet to go.
What I have realized is that I AM successful in ways other than rapid drops on the scale. As I mentioned in my previous blog , tiny weight losses add up and the way I sustain these losses is through continued progress in healthy living. As I learn to prepare more nutritious meals, get more and varied forms of exercise and focus on wellness I will continue to see weight loss but won't be demotivated at my slow pace. I will see the victories of a changed life.
Along with two good friends we pooled our collective experience and created a new challenge for 2014 that looks "BEYOND THE SCALE." While we will still weigh in weekly for accountability we want to focus on healthy living as a lifestyle - encouraging good nutrition, fitness and general wellness. As we apply these principles weight loss will follow.
We recognize that the encouragement and inspiration of others is essential to keep our motivation high so we will interact in teams but each person is on an individual journey, not competing in a race on the scale. Our victory moments will differ but what is essential is stepping ever closer to "Health & Fitness".
Our first quarter begins in early January. We are looking for like-minded individuals that wish to make progress in an interactive environment. This isn't a weight loss competition, it's a lifestyle change.
I'm excited. The future is bright!
