A cold walk and progress

Friday, December 06, 2013

I took advantage of getting out of work early and home before the sun set and took the dog for a walk. Holy Snow Miser batman it is flippin freezing out there!!

For those that do not know what I'm referring to by Snow Miser or need a refresher...

I love those old Christmas movies!

Some of you know, I am in the middle of physical therapy for plantar faciitis. I also took advantage of the time outside to practice running the way the physical therapist instructed me to alleviate the fascia pain. It's been awkward but I'm getting it.

I feel like progress is being made. I've had less and less pain the last few days. Buying new shoes for work also made a huge improvement! I would feel better the day after physical therapy and then blow it walking around the office the next day.

THE WEEKEND IS HERE! I need to focus on my goals for the weekend...

My cousin's Christmas party is always a plethora of munchies, sweets and catered pasta, chicken and potatoes and most of it served after 8pm. I must remember "I don't need that", not "I can't have that". It's also the day that always puts me in the Christmas spirit so I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone.

Sunday evening I am going to dinner with friends and then seeing A Christmas Story. Another holiday favorite of mine! "Ralphie, you'll shoot your eye out!"

Speaking of old Christmas movies, keep in mind this holiday season to just "put one foot in front of the other":

"you never will get where you're goin
if you never get up on your feet
come on there's a good tail wind blowin
a fast walkin man is hard to beat

Put one foot in front of the other
and soon you'll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you'll be walkin out the door"

I have mixed results at handling food at parties. I avoid the sweets because I have a severe nut allergy and simply just can't risk accidentally eating something with nuts or something that was snuggling up next to something with nuts (cross-contamination). The savory foods are harder to avoid, though. It is best to just stay on the other side of the room from the food.

Good weekend goals! It is a challenge to stay away from those holiday treats, isn't it? I am practicing staying away from the sweets this holiday season, because once i start I have a hard time stopping. Good luck!

Love your musical interludes...are you a music major or just a music lover??

Glad your P.F. seems to be improving. It's a bugger. Have fun at the Party, love your mantra "I don't need that!"

    Have a great w/e Kellie!

My DH got me a mount for my bike. Now all I have to do is hobble down the stairs to the basement to get to it. 16 days and counting. I never thought I would say this, but "I can't wait"!

When at the party eat plenty of healthy stuff, if none, then eat before you go and at the party do what chickens do peck at the food also known as sampling. Enjoy the holidays. You could also go for a two hour walk and earn the calories so you can eat more.

I am especially taking away "I don't need that." Thanks! I'll be using that on myslef. So glad to hear that the new gait is making a difference, too. Have fun and feel good about how it all went.

I've heard it's more helpful to tell yourself ,"I don't eat that" rather than I can't have that. It puts you in control rather than rules. You will do great at the party! You are a thoughtful person and will be able to focus on the social part of the party and help people feel good about themselves...consider that your mission!

I am glad the Physical therapy and new shoes are helping. It is freezing outside for walks. I can handle the cold but have to stop on the ice.

Hope you enjoy your lovely holiday events. They sound fun and definitely a way to enjoy Xmas.
