I decided I would try the recipe calculator today on a recipe that I have been eating often lately. At one point, not too long ago, I thought I would never make this recipe again. Chicken and rice hotdish is really not a healthy meal. It has been going down pretty good lately and not aggravating the stomach problem too much. I knew that I was eating too much of it at a time though. I suppose that is why I haven't run it through the calculator before. I have to admit that I was surprised. I thought the portion that I could fit into my meal parameters would be about a couple bites, but no it is a little bigger than that. It would be the perfect amount for breakfast, but we usually eat it at supper. It is nice to know that I would not have to give it up completely, unless I go back to the no starch diet. I really do feel better when I don't eat starch, but it is hard to maintain for long.
I think the recipe calculator is a great tool. It does take a fair amount of time to run a recipe through it though. I might think of adding it to my goals in the future to run one of my recipes through it every week. I think I'll hold off until I get my test results since there may be diet recommendations that come from that.
