signs of weight loss

Yesterday I noticed for the first time that one single pair of pants that I own was fitting a little looser. They are a pair of khaki cargo pants that I love to just slip on to go run a quick errand- yesterday was grocery shopping. They are one of those pairs of pants that have become a barometer of my weight. They are drawstring without a button or a zipper, so there is no more give when the waist is at it's max. They had been fitting ok for a while, and then they had gotten tight and uncomfortable again after (over)eating during my last vacation over a month ago. The tightness of those pants spurred me to re-commit again with calorie counting and increasing my activity.
And yesterday, when I wore them to the grocery store, I noticed easy that I had to keep pulling them up. My body is of the "apple-shape" variety so it's not like my hips will keep things up. And then I realized just how far things have come in the past 5-6wks. My barometer fat pants that do not lie went from tight and unbearable to loose!
I must admit this realization saved from a day of poor eating choices, which i had been contemplating giving in to :)
And it also reminded me of the unfortunate way my body loses weight- I lose what little butt I have left before the spare tire around my waist starts shrinking. Boo... but at least things are changing. I need to do some pilates- both for my core and for my butt. Back in my teenage days, I had a butt that was more than a mis-shapen pancake, but those days are long gone. I need to bring it back!
All this being said, I'm excited about the signs of progress that are popping up.
