depression,weight loss, and sciatica

Friday, December 06, 2013

well the last 6 mths have been crazy for me, heres an update, on each and how im doing
1- depression
well i was diagnosed with severe depression type 1, this just basiclly means i wasnt suicidal yet, i was put on prozac and straterra (for my add), well its worked like a charm, i was diagnose in september and in november i had my first 3 mth apt, and the doc said it was a diffrence tween nite and day, i really do feel better, im not bawling alll the time, and i dont get mad at small things and it HAS helped with my klegs some, speaking of my leg.....
2- sciatica
turns out my sciatica was not due to a back injusty but was due to my diabeties, which is strange because ive been off meds for that for over a year now well actually going on 2 years, but i had a neuropothy test done asnd thats what it said, BTW the docs have been absolutly useless with this, i finally took matters into my own hand, i got the deporession diagnosis ,hubby got me back in the gym, and i try to get at least 4 days in, i would like 6 but lots of times it depends on how tired i am from cracker barrel, and im finally getting to work longer days again, most days im in very little pain, it seems like this really cold weather has made it a chasllange to be painfree but i take the challange and plan on defeating it.
3-weightloss
so i lost a mad amiount of weight before my depression diagnosis, but it wasnt the right way,i couldnt eat cuz food tasted like crap, after meds, i did gain about 5 back because food wuz good again, and then five more so this forced me to change my goals on here and so far im down 2, although the svcale at the gym said higher but then i rememberes i had to subtract for clothes and shoes, andddd i do believe im starting to get some muscles, my core is certantly doing better, its a test but one i gladly take, getting bavck on my healthy habits has in some ways been good and some bad, i like cookies a bit too much so i need to work on that,
special note-
KRISTINA (grandbaby), has made an awsome recovery after her seziure in july, shes doing everything normaslly, we are even almost off bobbles (bottles),(shes 15 mths now be 16 on the 17th of dec), yesterday we went and saw HO HO *(santa), shes a bit tiny only weighs 21 lbs but healthy the doc said NOT to worry, and she eats when she wants to, shes gained a stepfather whos a pretty good day, he and my daughter plan on hopefully marring in the fall of 14, but for now they have their own place, i getr her thursday nites, cus shes pretty fond of her MEME (me), and i dont care what anyone says ii had NOTHING to do w/ her being spoikled (tongue in cheek) here are some current pics of her have a great day everyone

KUDOS to you for pursuing both the depression and leg pain. It is hard. My son was diagnosed with ADD when he was 13 (21 now) and was PROFOUNDLY depressed as well. Once he was treated for both (with meds, talk therapy, behavioral modification and proper rest/nutrition/exercise) he thrived, and still does (he's now 21.). Depression is a very common go-along with ADD.

AS for the neuropathy, the way it was explained to me, any blood sugars over 140 cause microscopic damage to veins, arteries and nerves. So, even if your sugars are controlled now, previously high blood sugars could have caused damage. That's the boat I'm in too. I was FINALLY diagnosed with type 2 insulin resistant diabetes in Jan 2010, put on meds and thru nutrition, exercise and SP, I lost almost 100 lbs. The point being, I have ben off meds too since March 2011 and have never felt better, but still do have some neuropathy in my feet. It is not bad at all, nothing I can't deal with and I feel much better knowing the blood sugars are controlled to prevent further damage!

HUGS (sorry! Didn't mean to take up your page. These situations are near and dear to my heart, thought!)

You granddaughter looks like a china doll! GORGEOUS!
