A bunch of this and that

Thursday, December 05, 2013

The world has lost one of the true giants. Rest in peace, Nelson Mandela.

I decided to take the risk and pay the cell phone bill today. That leaves me with $43 until next Friday, but I felt like I had to. Maybe I'm getting old, but I just don't feel safe having no phone for a week. I kept thinking, what if I got sick or injured and needed 911? At my age I just didn't want to take the chance. Well, the rent and the phone are paid and I have enough food. Guess it's time to find out what sort of "buried treasures" I have in the freezer and cupboards!

One more (long) day. It has gotten COLD here in Northern Cali. It was down to 39 before I got home from work today! And they refuse to turn on the heat at work. BRRRR! Right now my fingers are stiff, but I'm in my flannels right now, the heater is on, and I'm finally able to try to relax.

Hot dogs for dinner tonight, and the last of the leftover green bean casserole from Thanksgiving. Not gourmet, but it'll be hot and filling. Exactly what I need right now.

Being without a phone is scary, especially when you live alone.Glad you decided to make the phone a priority.

I've done the "living out of what's in the freezer" thing too. It can make for some interesting meals, to say the least, but with your creativity they should be delicious and balanced as well.

The challenges of getting the budget buckled! I still have trouble doing that! Hot dogs and green bean casserole sound good right now.

I used to work at a company that believed on keeping the heat on 62. I worked by a big garage door. I came home so frozen that I would have to sit in a hot tub to warm up. Needless to say, I didn't stay there too long. My bones and health couldn't handle it.

Will they let you bring a blanket or something where you work?

I am sitting here right now waiting for the "Ice Storm" that has been predicted for tonight and tomorrow. It has misted rain most of the day and on into the evening. On Wednesday, our temperature was in the 70's, and it steadily dropped today into the 30's. Already this afternoon, all schools are canceled for Friday as well as many other events. Nothing going on currently except rain. I hope all we get is rain because if we have ice or snow that will mean another day 'OFF' work for me after having a reduced work schedule during Thanksgiving.

I am glad you went ahead and paid your cell phone bill. It really would be scary not to have a phone. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I wish things weren't so tough on the money side for you right now. I hope the overtime helps, and you have a little something extra for the holidays.

It's a cold week in the middle of the country too. If we could just blow this weather off the main land to the middle of the ocean it might be more comfortable. emoticon
