December?

Thursday, December 05, 2013

It was 54 degrees this afternoon! Wowza! That is warm for December in this part of the US. It is already chillier though, so I think that we will get back to a more normal temperature pretty quickly. It was nice for our morning walk though, and my niece didn't complain at all... well, except about the skunk smell by one house. She was saying today that she doesn't think a year ago that she could have walked close to 6 miles, and she is proud of the fact that now she can. I like to hear things like that, as it makes me think that maybe making her walk with me is doing her some good.

Anyways... I am hoping for snow tomorrow and Saturday. I would like to go snow shoeing again soon, and almost all the snow has melted. I was thinking of signing up for a group snow shoeing excursion, but I would like to get out a few more times before then. It isn't until the 21st, but I have only been out twice for about an hour each time, and the hike would be at least 2 hours. I need to be in better shape if I am going to go. Then again, if the weather is like this then no one will be going!

I have reached my goal for the 5% challenge. Not that my weigh ins really count since I am in maintenance. I think I will skip weighing myself for a couple weeks and see what happens. My jeans fit just fine right now. As long as they still fit just fine I am not going to stress over my weight. I still track everything I eat, and probably always will, as it keeps me honest.

Today was my first full day with the Spark activity tracker. It seems to work well as a pedometer, but it didn't track my afternoon walk with the dog as a workout... it was pretty stop and go as he wanted to sniff EVERYTHING, so maybe it didn't think it was 10 consecutive minutes of exercise. We will have to see what it says tomorrow.

Oh, and last night I found a credit card in the street and picked it up and brought it home. When I got home and looked up the person's phone number, I left a message that I had found it and could return it this morning while I was out walking the dog. Turns out the card owner runs a spa in town and insisted in giving me a gift certificate as a reward. I told her I didn't need a reward, but she was insistent. Now I guess I need a massage or something. Maybe next time I book the dog at the groomers I will go get petted myself! LOL

It will be interesting to see how the tracker works with your fitness and if it helps with your motivation.

Wow Colleen actually is getting the same temperatures as me! Was -22 with a windchill! Not too many people out doing things if they didn't have to!
You need to take Cooper to an off leash area, so you can fast walk to your heart's content and he can sniff the heck out of the place.
Mom and I walk Daisy on a trail off leash and she sticks by us like glue for the most part with fast jaunts through the bush if she gets a sniff of something. But she isn't away for long and keeps us in sight. She goes frantic if we split up and one of us takes a high trail and the other the lower -she then races back and forth between us -great exercise!
Good for you on the credit card! Nice reward! Enjoy!

That is so Pawesome Awesome about the Spa Treatment! Tell Cooper he doesn't have to worry about keeping up with the Tracker, cuz he is a fantastic fellow.

I live in the panhandle of texas and today they had freezing rain in the high tens and low twenties, but it sure was different here were my dad lived in the south of texas in the 70's..

enjoy your balmy day- we are coping with -24C plus wind chill so outdoor activity is limited to sprints from vehicle to building as we need to get to work, school, stores etc- the weekend is promising some moderation with temps climbing to -16C so I'm looking forward to getting outside then- when the skies are clear it is quite comfortable as we all bundle up emoticon

It seems that Cooper and the tracker don't get along well.

It was 65 degrees yesterday and 27 degrees now. Very typical of St. Louis.
