We have a toy fox terrier/rat terrier mix

Thursday, December 05, 2013

We have a toy fox terrier/rat terrier mix and he is having a hard time settling down at nights. He is only still a puppy of 14 months. He's kenneled from 7a-3pm M-F. When he gets out he acts all crazy and goes straight for the cats food (i digress). He has very short coat but we bought him a nice down coat for him to wear when he is outside. . My question is - any clue how long of a walk i need to be giving him? I took him for a 15 minute walk last night and he was still wound up at 10:15.

I have a part german shorthair, part beagle and taught her to walk on the treadmill. Use this during the winter. She could go a half hour or more before distraction sets in. Also we used a blanket to put over her when she settled down. To this day she wants to lay on a blanket and have it tossed over her. There are times she even goes back in the kennel to relax, not sure why but think it's her way of tuning us out. Wishing you luck and patience.

Cute! and emoticon they have a lot of energy, so I suggest 30 minutes or more, plus he is still a puppy! Good luck! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I would love to know the magic number! I have a boxer that cannot calm down either. I walk her for 15-30 minutes and she is still spun up. Even though on the walks she is wiped out.
