Thanksgiving was good and bad. I spent the entire month of November giving thanks daily, and I won't stop there. Thanksgiving needs to be in your heart daily.
We got a locally raised organic turkey (13 + lbs) - it cost a lot more than the grocery store, but it was very good. So good, there were no more leftovers by the next day, except for the legs and wings that I threw in the freezer and just made curried turkey rice soup yesterday, along with my egg-free oatmeal banana chocolate chip bread. Great breakfast. Very moist.
Desserts. Shall we go there? Sure, you may find it quite amusing. Well, hubby did not feel up to making his typical pumpkin pie, so we bought a frozen one. No problem there. I made a chocolate cream pie with a graham cracker shell and chocolate pudding and real whipped cream as opposed to artificial cream. I also made a gluten free, egg free pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese frosting. I can say all of this with no guilt whatsoever. I can't eat the pie due to eggs. I had 2 small pieces of chocolate cream pie through out the day, before it fell topside down on the floor. Only my hubby and I got to have any. Finally, right after our dinner, one of the kiddos was putting dishes away and dropped a glass that broke all over my pretty little cake. Alas, it met the trash can with nary a taste. Sigh! I will have to try that one again, when the kiddos are not around. (These are adult kiddos mind you.)
My new job at work won't start until January. They need me in production too much with Christmas sales right now. I will be audio proofing audio books for errors, etc. So excited. I can't wait! Mean time, I still do second proofing, listening for errors before final production.
My husband is improving, walking with a cane without the air boot. He tires easy, but I am slowly working him up. He can get exhausted walking from the car just to the inside of the mall to the optician on Friday. But yesterday, I noticed him dragging his feet less, and crossing the parking lot with a little more vigor, and I told him so.
After all this, I have been so busy, I hadn't hopped on the scale. I did after breakfast, and am happy to inform you, I broke 190's and am now 189! That is 23 pounds down since last December. Yes! Happy dance. Thanksgiving for the lost pound(s).
I am doing my Snoopy dance!
