I TOPSBEAR! It is so hard to have the patience to do everything right and not see that scale go down! Our bodies don't work like a calculator. Maybe calories in and calories burned is an important concept but that is not the whole story. I admire those people who stick it out! I think it is funny when the reason we got on this site was the persistence we had to avoid healthy and now we must reverse the process and use both our muscles and our brains to work through the situation. Glad I am on the other end of that persistance and also exercising my resistance.
Plateaus can be annoying! I have found that a lot of members of my TOPS club break their routines in frustration with their plateaus. They should be staying with their routines, and sometimes even stepping it up a bit!
Most plateaus are caused by your body trying to catch up with the losses that you have had to that point. Kind of like rearranging things inside. Inside of our bodies have things that must be done too, like resetting the metabolic rates, adjusting various minerals and vitamins and so on. As we get smaller by losing the weight, our bodies dont need as much of the calories, vitamins and minerals as it used to and our metabolic rate goes up so we burn better!
Just some things to think about next time you hit that plateau!
