Focus T25 Day 1!

Monday, December 02, 2013

Today was Focus T25 Day 1, and man did it kick my butt!!!

I was all mentally prepped for today, I set my alarm, my DVD player was loaded, I was ready for that alarm to go off!

And then it turns out that instead of hitting "save" on my alarm I hit "close" - so my alarm did not go off until 6:45 instead of 6. REALLY!?!? Come on now!

BUT - it actually wasn't a bad thing! My sleep pattern was all messed up from getting home so late on Saturday from babysitting, so I wasn't able to fall asleep until after midnight last night. Had my alarm gone off at 6am I would have had a really difficult time waking up and getting my head in the game.

So instead I did my workout when I got home from work. I had planned on going grocery shopping, but instead I did that during lunch and it's so cold out now that the refridgerated foods I bought stayed cold with no problems during the afternoon. So I came home after work, did my workout - and MAN OH MAN! It was rough!

The first 10 minutes I was all cocky thinking about how I'm going to be able to check off that "nailed it" box. But by 15 minutes into it - not so much. I had to take at least 5 quick stops to breath, take some sips of water, or shake out/stretch my legs. It was rough, but felt really good at the same time! I hate the though of needing to check off the "barely made it" box - i wish they had an in between box for something like, "tried really hard, did my best, but there's room for improvement" lol. It's kind of a long title, but it's very fitting, lol.

I made my photocopies of my worksheets today, fixed my T25 journal thing, and tracked my food on print outs of "michi's ladder." Rather than writing down everything and counting everything, I made photocopies of michi's ladder and am highling and marking the foods I eat with a "B" "L" "D" or "S" for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack. This way I can keep track of which tiers I'm eating from, how much I"m eating, etc. I'll be putting it all into a binder to look back on.

I also signed up for another obstacle race today! It was all very sudden! I had just been thinking yesterday how much I like not being signed up for something because it takes the pressure off of things. But then today I got an e-mail from a coworker who only sent the invite to 3 of us, which was nice to be included, especially since I haven't been working out with them or really hanging out them. For today only the registration fee was down from $55 to $35, and best of all, the race isn't until the very end of June, about 2 weeks after the wedding that I'll be in, so I have plenty of time to relax, do T25, and then get more serious about jogging training. I would even have time to do T25 and then a round of P90X3 before the wedding and race! So no pressure right now, and I'm planning that by the time I would start to feel pressure, I won't need to because I'll have been on this plan or have finished it and moved on to another one.

I also think that rather than following this program schedule to the T, I'm planning on moving one of my rest days. I tend to have a hard time with rest days because it's hard to go even 1 day without working out when you have trouble staying motivated. Even though it's to rest and recover, even if I did a stretch workout, I have a difficult time getting through rest days and an even more difficult time getting back into workouts the next day. So the though of having 2 rest days on this program is intimidating. So I plan on doing workouts Mon and Tues, taking a rest day on Wed, doing workouts on Thur, Fri, and Sat (Sat would be the double day, which works out great because I have more time on Saturdays since I work M-W), and then rest day on Sunday to log, relfect, do worksheets, grocery shop, etc. This should work out well for me - I'll still be taking all the classes scheduled for the week!

Sorry, long blog! Hope you all had a Sparktastic Day!!
