Another Birthday Came & Gone Now

Sunday, December 01, 2013

Well today was a bummer of a birthday.

My DH gave me a very nice card. He was going to take me out to eat.

But I ended up spending the day in the ER with chest pains. They did a EKG, Chest x-rays, IV'S and I spent over 6hr's there. They said they couldn't find anything wrong. They think it is my Hiatal Hernia that was giving me chest pains.

Then to top it off I didn't hear from any of my kids. I did hear from my DH daughter which I have adopted as a daughter. OH well I am just the mother & grandmother no big deal. I thought I raised them better. When my mom was alive I would call her at least once a week. I don't know where I went wrong.

I did get Birthday wisher from other people that I know so that helped make the day somewhat good.

    Hi Ida,
happy belated birthday. So sorry to hear about the careless kids. I don;t think you did anything wrong. It is them, this is a very selfabsorbed generation. I think I am glad I live in Africa, since here it si not as bad yet. If I look at my own brothers & sisters, they are the same. One sister only remembers my brithday every year 1 day late, since that day is her husband's birthday. They others often don't bother.

Sorry that you weren't feeling well, btu sure glad it wasn't the heart. Am sure DH will take you out another day.

    Hugs

Oh Ida, what a day you had. Happy Belated Birthday!!!
I don't think you have done anything wrong, but I am one of those people that call my mom daily, and sometimes more. Even though she is 400 miles away, I still have to have the contact. It comes from when I was in grade school and had to call to check in. I agree with Tatter3 it seems to be a generational thing.
Glad that your heart isn't in trouble. Heres to having a better week!

Sorry to hear about your "bummer" birthday. We went to a family holiday party on my birthday. After the party, we went to my daughter's house and she served up an ice cream cake for all of us. Son and family, her family, and DH and I. Son gave me a gift card from JoAnn's and I used it already. I have wanted a thread organizer for a long time. It was on sale for half price online and the card covered it and a pair of Christmas socks to boot! DH gave me a new top and a pajama set. DD gave me a note for a "lunch out and shopping trip" later this month. Looking forward to being with her and the darling grand daughters. It was a long day, but a nice day!

Hope this new year we are starting brings all the best for us!!!

I'm so sorry Ida; I hope when you are feeling better you can celebrate your birthday another day. I'm sorry that you didn't hear from your kids.

I have a hiatial hernia, and acid reflux; I know how much those can make your chest hurt. I've been in the ER a couple of times myself in the past because the chest pain was so bad. They would run test and not find anything wrong, and give me a "GI cocktail", some mixture of medicine that tasted like Nyquil, but it did ease the chest pain. Since it helped the chest pain, they were pretty sure it wasn't heart related.
