It seems like just yesterday, I felt like spring and summer were NEVER going to get started and it's suddenly December!

So that means, as of today, spring is 109 days away. I have 109 opportunities to continue to be the healthiest and strongest version of myself.

November was good. I....

~Hit one year of maintenance.

~Stuck to the November Fit To Feast Challenge... 10 minutes of activity every day. I never stopped at 10 minutes. That has worked for me in the past, when I've been lazy, telling myself I'm only going to work out for a few minutes. I end up getting into it and workout way longer.

~Completed the Chicago Hot Chocolate 5K. It was the first 5K I have ever done that I ran the entire race. I had tears in my eyes when I crossed the finish line.

~I participated in my park district's indoor mini triathlon... 10 minutes of lap swimming, 15 minutes of cycling and 15 minutes running on the treadmill. I WAY overestimated my swimming abilities but it was an awesome day!

Now it's time to deal with plantar faciitis. I had two sessions this past week with the physical therapist. He said my ankles and calves are extremely tight. He was impressed with my leg and hip strength as well as my balance.

He taught me some new stretches which I have been doing 4-5 times each day. The other homework he gave me was to learn to run a little differently. He said when I run, there is too much up and down, slamming pressure into my feet.

He had me stand straight, lean forward from my ankles until I felt like I was going to fall forward and start running from that point, keeping that position. AWKWARD! During a walk with my dog on Thanksgiving, I gave it a try. I felt ridiculous but after four tries I think I get it.

I am going to commit to 10 minutes of yoga or meditation each day this month. I am very tightly wound during the holidays so I'm hoping this will make a difference for me this year.

As always I will continue walking. On breaks at work I walk laps around the gymnasium/auditorium. I'm a big chicken about walking my Labrador after dark so I will continue to pile on layers of clothes and take her for two walks each day on Saturdays and Sundays that she loves.

    I would say you had a VERY successful November emoticon

That running pose does sound weird. Running is done for me and although I won't be able to walk for several weeks yet I can't wait! For my B.D.. my D.H. got me one of those racks for the back wheel of my bike so I can get started peddling indoors.

    congrats on maintaining emoticon you've accomplished so much this year emoticon and you always have such great advice ,I do believe ill try some yoga or other form of meditation also to help with my stress level ( I didn't even think about doing that until I read your blog ) emoticon

    Funny! You're counting the days til spring (too)!

The 10 minute fitness/activity challenge really changed my life!
A couple months ago I decided to double it and do 10 minutes twice a day.
And 10 minutes of meditation/relaxation . . . . we owe that to ourselves!!!
Plus, when the phone rings, I head to the elliptical . . . . time passes so much more quickly.

You are such an inspiration.

    I tend toward plantar fasciitis and have to really watch it when I feel pain starting. The running idea seems weird, but I'm going to see if I can't give it a try.

    great blog, and congratulations on one year maintenance, I got down to my goal weight in less than 8 months, but by the end of that year, I had gained most of it back, I have got down 3 or 4 pounds (sometimes) but that is it, I didn't realize what maintenance meant, I celebrated every day, we went on a cruise, and then the holidays began, I did level off, but I do cheat at night, and that is the story of my journey, if it wasn'6t for Sparks, who knows how much more I would have gained.

    Great month. Here's to an even better Christmas.

I just came from one of my local watering holes and the Paul McCartney song was on the playlist.

Dog walking at night is great. I live in a small city and I can tell you, I overheard some very amusing and interesting conversations on the 2 AM emergency dog walks when the bars closed.
