My weight loss has been pretty steady these last two weeks that I didn't blog with a few of the usual ups and downs. Nothing too surprising one way or another and I stayed On Point (OP) the whole time. Still loving the Weight Watchers Online program!! Actually, I've about decided it's currently my best friend! Let me tell you why ...
I had decided way before Thanksgiving to take the advice, "Don't do anything to lose weight that you aren't willing to do to maintain it." I knew I wouldn't spend my life counting calories on Thanksgiving, so I decided to not track or worry about any of it that day. It was wonderful! The food was yummy and the company was great. Fun was had by all. :) The next day is traditionally a big shopping day for me and my girls, so I decided to not track that day, either. Well, let me tell ya! Two days of heavy food made me feel miserable by the end of it!! Thanksgiving day wasn't too bad and I think that's because the food was homemade and without the high sodium content. Sure, it was carb-rich and high in fat, but lower on the side of sodium and preservatives, etc. Our shopping trip day was full of fast food for all three meals along with the high fat and calories and chemical additives. The scale showed a 2 lb weight gain over these two days and I felt miserable this morning. I just cannot explain to you all how overjoyed I was to grab my usual healthy breakfast and get out my tracking app! My lunch is back on the healthy side, too. Looking at that big ole salad just before I dug in made me so overjoyed, I wanted to hug it! LOL
So, the lesson I have learned is homemade food is worth the splurge but, in my opinion and experience, fast food isn't. Next time, just for the sake of not feeling yucky, I think I'll be willingly adding healthy fair and just indulge a little. I mean, is it really an indulgence when it makes you feel like poo later? Nope, I think not. Not for this gal.
