Checking in: winter running, card wod, paleo eating

Just a quickie check in ... I committed to checking in here daily however yesterday I didn't make it due to spending the day and night at my cottage which does not have internet. I was able to track food and exercise via phone but did not want to attempt a blog entry.
So eating continues to go well. Still fairly close to paleo .. I am cheating by using some cheese, and also half and half in my coffee. Otherwise am doing very well. Other cheats will be starches, lots of sweet potatoes and the odd regular old white potato :P
I was to go to the xfit box yesterday but my wod buddy bailed on me so I headed to my cottage and did a card wod there. For those who don't know what a card wod is you take a deck of cards, INCLUDING the jokers, and each suit is assigned a movement, each joker assigned a movement. For example: hearts = situps, diamonds = pushups, clubs = squats, spades = lunges. Joker 1 = 25 burpees and joker 2 = max plank hold. That is what I assigned to last night's card wod. My space is very limited there and I have no weights, boxes, bars, etc so all must be body weight exercises only. Once assigned you then flip through each and every card, all 54 of them. 4 of hearts means you do 4 situps, 8 of clubs is 8 suqats etc. All face cards and aces are 10 reps of the exercises. By the time i was done I had completed 85 pushups, 85 squats, 85 lunges, 85 situps, 25 burpees and 1 max hold plank. Was a decent workout!
Today I woke up and went for a slippery, snowy run out on the rural, hilly country roads. I like to run out there at least once a week as it is so hilly and my house in town is surrounded by km and km of flat, flat, flat land ....
So yes, things are going well. I've experienced the initial fast drop in weight I had been expecting, down 4 lbs this week. I know it will slow down from now on and I am fine with that. 1 lb a week is all I ask for :)
