It's Okay To Enjoy a HoliDAY

Today is day 2 of my on track streak!

Yep, I had to start my streak over, after 47 days. No big deal! Thanksgiving was a special day, and I gave myself permission to indulge a little. It was just one day, after all. Its a long holiday season, and there's no way that I will be perfect during it! I'm not even going to try. I figure its totally acceptable to splurge a little on Thanksgiving, and again on Christmas day and New Years day. It's okay to enjoy a holiDAY, as long as you don't let it turn into a holiWEEK or holiMONTH!

So on Thanksgiving, I ate more than I usually do, and even had some dessert. And guess what? It was delicious! I really enjoyed it. I think I actually enjoyed it MORE, simply because it was a treat, and not something I do on an every day basis. But it felt great to get right back on track the next day, and start my streak over. Now I will keep working hard, and do my best to stay on track until Christmas day...when I'll allow myself to have another little indulgence!

Healthy holidays, everyone!

Another awesome blog! I over ate a little bit on Thanksgiving but I was ok with it. I got to the fitness center early that day. Dessert tasted pretty good.

GREAT attitude! I, too, enjoyed my Thanksgiving meal with all the fixin's! I ate a little bit of everything that I wanted to eat. I found, at the end of the meal, I wasn't stuff like past Thanksgiving meal. I didn't weigh myself the next day BUT I returned to tracking and eating my healthy meals.

I agree! One meal of special treats is fine; one week is not okay; and one month is a problem.

Thanks for saying what we all need to remember.

Exactly! Last year I let the Thanksgiving holiday become a holimonth and then had to spend all spring trying to banish the inevitable pounds! I'm planning to be smarter this year... Thanks for the reminder!!!

Me too. Logging in every day and tracking food intake seems to be the only way to stay "on track."

Your attitude is wonderful! I'm sure naturally thin people indulge a bit on the holidays too. I love that you're not beating yourself up or restricting yourself. Just keep moving on.

How was Move-ember?

Great point !! Sometimes I am way to hard on myself and then I really do over eat.

Thanks for the advice about setting a schedule to exercise. I will give it a try. I hope that I can make it stick.

Yes, Brother Ken has been here for a long time. They say that in the United States that pastors on the average stay in one church for 3 years. We must be terribly hard on pastors. Or, perhaps, the Lord moves them around because each of them has something different to teach us.

I splurged too, and it was a weekend, including today's leftover meal for family-friends! But, the truth is that my version of a splurge is very different than how I used to eat. My portions are way smaller, and I eat way more of the vegetables. I did however drink too much on Friday! I hope all the cooking and moving I did balances some of that out, ahem, and I'm sure it will.
