To think an average adult consumes
roughly 4,500 Calories on Thanksgiving Day! Reports according to the Caloric Control Council (ya can you believe there's such an organization - go figure) show that the average adult will consume 3,000 calories including 229 grams of fat in just their Thanksgiving Day dinner alone.
To put that in perspective this means a 160 lb. person would have to run at a moderate pace for four hours, swim for five hours or walk 30 miles to burn off a 3,000-calorie Thanksgiving Day meal! WOW!! And remember that's not even 1 #, which equals 3,500 calories - OUCH!
And since that 3,000 is just the THANKSGIVING DINNER by the end of Thanksgiving Day most will have consumed more likely 4,500 calories total for the day! WOW!!
So I’m thrilled to have only tracked 2,281 calories so far today. For my dinner I tracked 1,062 calories plus another 525 calories for treats/deserts. Doesn't matter that together this equals 1,587 calories which is my total daily goal or that I am over by 681 calories for the day – I’m feeling GREAT!!!
First off I tracked my food conservatively and towards the high side when in doubt, so may actually have consumed less than tracked but even so… I stayed mindful in what I consumed and of my portions sizes….at least up until desert – my downfall ALWAYS!!!!
Oops in writing this, just remembered I forgot to track 1 glass of white wine which will add to above numbers but even so I’m thrilled to have consumed way less than the average of 4,500 total calories for today, by ranking in at under half –
Oh and felt so "thrilled" upon arriving home I did a 10+minute SPARK with my new best friend - my dog Ali! Plus the fact that I was feeling a bit guilty in leaving her alone all day...
