A Fully Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 28, 2013

" Whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well." Earl of Chesterfield

Lot's of people in the diet community are freaking out about today . In the U.S.A it is officially Thanksgiving a day meant to celebrate thanks that turned into a day of gluttony.

Some people will overdo some people will get so upset that they will give up trying all together ,because after all Christmas is coming more parties more chances to over indulge.

My philosophy is quite simple . I am going to have a fully happy Thanksgiving. No regrets , no giving up , no hating myself.

First off today is like any day . It just has a different name. Some exercise and a little extra is in order . The little extra depends on how bad you want to be today and how good you are willing to be the rest of the week.

Before you hit the table or buffet eat light . That means a light breakfast or lunch or a light salad before you go so you won't feel the need to stuff yourself.

When you hit the table go heavy on the vegetables ,no not on the mashed potatoes unless you know they are cauliflower masquerading as potatoes. Heap on the salad but go very easy on the dressing. Have some white meat turkey. Then a little of all the bad but oh so good stuff.
If you must hit the dessert do so lightly. A small sliver or a taste from someone's else's should do the trick .
If you can't or won't say no to alcohol or soda have a small glass followed by a large water.
Here's another helpful hint if you are making the dinner yourself you can moderate on how healthy it is. I make my own cranberry sauce from fresh cranberries and a clementine, no fruit juice added and I use half of the sugar. I go easy and use less butter in a lot of my cooking.

Make sure to go for an after dinner walk or play a game of football to aid the digestion and conquer the calories.
Do not go overboard they will be leftovers for tomorrow . Whatever you do have a fully Happy Thanksgiving

Just finished our Thanksgiving dinner. Cooked healthy and no one over ate (which really surprised me). Nice left over to have during the week. Hope you had a wonderful day.!!!

We have a Thanksgiving lunch and it is already over. I still measure everything I eat and document it first on the nutrition tracker so I know what and how much I can eat. I feel so much better when I don't over indulge. And later, I will go for a run/walk on the treadmill. You are right, this is just another day and I don't want to overeat today anymore than I do any other day!
Hope you have a great time with your family!
