Exercise! Still stuggling

I have yet to find something that I enjoy doing. During the summer I like to swim at the indoor pool, but in the winter its just way too cold in the water even though it heated. I have to force myself to get on the elliptical trainer and talk myself into staying on it throughout the program. I have been dancing in the afternoon when the kids are napping and that is fun. But I wont do it if anyone is home and hubby is off this week.
Does anyone have any suggestions for maybe a beginner zumba video or something else that would be fun.?When I dance I usually put on my headphones and listen to The Frankie Valle and the 4 Seasons music. It makes great exercise music! But a lot of music from the 60s would be great to exercise to. I know I would be losing much fast if I would exercise more.

    I find that exercise is so much easier first thing in the morning. It starts my day 'right', puts a spring in my step and makes me want to get healthier. I'm not fussy about what I do, just so long as I work up a little sweat.

hey, I answered the phone tonight to DD and scared the wits out of her LOL I could scarcely catch my breath to explain that I was in the middle of a workout, thus the gasping and panting LOL

    The library is a good way to try workout videos. I enjoy running, walking, You are Your own Gym workouts DVD. I also have enjoyed many of sparkpeople videos and followed the tried and true advice to just commit to 10 minutes and usually end up doing more. If I'm gonna sweat, I want it to be good reason to shower and to do the extra laundry right?! emoticon emoticon

    Nothing worse than forcing yourself to do a workout that you don't like! But there are SO many other workouts available. There are a bunch of ones here on Sparks, and also some on Youtube. Do you belong to Netflix? They have lots of workout DVD's too. And as CATTUTT says Collage Video has a lot of workout DVD's and I think their prices are reasonable.

Once you find a workout you like, you'll be so much happier. For me, it is yoga, Pilates, kettlebell and anything using the stability ball. I hope you find something you like, too!

I have a friend who has started hula hooping. She totally LOVES IT and has lost 40 pounds in only six months.

    I know where your coming from I have trouble getting motivated to get on the treadmil cuz I still sweat so terrible when I do any exercise and get short of breathand there isnt anything wrong except I am out of shape . It is getting easier but I just have trouble getting started.

    I do the elliptical with tv or music - I'll put a movie on and the time goes faster. Sometimes I'll just walk in place when I'm watching tv, just as long as I'm moving. Walking in the neighborhood, etc. All movement counts! Every lb you lose is 4 lbs of pressure off of your knees which will make it easier until you have them replaced and will make your recovery a lot easier too!

    Do you listen to music while you're doing the elliptical? If not, there's your problem lol, I couldn't do it if I didn't have music or the tv on. Do you like to walk or is it too cold for your taste this time of year? I ask because sometimes the way I talk myself into working out (if it isn't a group fitness day) is that I will make myself wait until I'm exercising to listen to my music...that's usually a pretty good motivator for me.

    I don't have any specific videos to suggest {except any Richard Simmons, he will make you smile, no matter how much you hate working out!}, but check out Collage Video {www.collagevideo.com}. They have ways to search based on what you are looking for, and there are TONS to chose from.

But just gotta say -- I sympathize with not enjoying working out. I don't either. I keep hoping someday I will, but it hasn't happened yet!
