yet another redo

Here I am back at SP after several years away. I deleted my old account and am starting fresh. I just feel a completely fresh start is in order.

Background - over the past few years I went from 240lbs to 187 lbs. As of May 2013 I was floating between 187 and 192 lbs and I felt awesome. I know those weights may seem high still to some of you but I am not a small person, and I am prone to building muscle so I really did look good at that point. Life events and some illness got in my way throughout the summer and fall of 2013 and I stopped eating healthy (I had been following a mainly paleo diet for about a year) and necessarily had to take a break from all my exercise. I was able to start back into my exercise regime about 3 weeks ago. I knew I had gained weight but until today was too scared to get on the scale. Well, this morning I made myself get on and bam! Instant wake up call.

So here I am. I need to get back on track. I can't believe I slid so far off target when I had been doing so well. I need some accountability.

Yesterday a crossfit WOD buddy and I entered a pact to lose 30 pounds by May. Why May? Two reasons, it's a healthy rate of loss averaging around 1 lb per week, and two because in May I am going to be participating in an international hockey tournament in France, followed by a team tour of Italy. It is going to be one of my life's highlights I am sure and I'd like to feel awesome and look good while I experience such an adventure.

My plan is to get back to as close to paleo eating as I can and to ensure I exercise at least 6 days a week. I am going to begin tracking food and exercise once again here at SP. My goal is to track daily for the next 21 days.

As soon as I get off of this computer I am going to book an appointment with the nutritionist as my local crossfit box. I've heard some pretty amazing things about her. I also am going to get a run of some sort in today. I am restarting a couch to 5k type program as I have lost so much endurance over the past 6 months. My previous best 5k was 32:48. I had and still have a goal of running a sub 30 5k. We shall see, for now that goal feels rather elusive but I am far from giving up.

So yes, I'm back, I'm serious, I'm doing this for me ....

You know that you can do it. Sometimes that is more than half the battle.

Running a sub-30 5K is one of my goals as well.
