So when I first started Sparkpeople, I created a mantra for myself and called in Mission Cardio Queen. It worked well since it got me from 160s to the 130s so I'm doing it again. At that time, I didn't know much about working out so all my focus was on cardio, usually hitting up the gym an hour at a time. As great as that is for losing weight, I now know the benefits of strength training so do not let the name fool you. I fully intend to incorporate weight training in my new routine.
I started off today with a 30 minute elliptical session and I must admit, it feels amazing to be back. My nutrition was not too bad.
Vanilla protein shake with strawberries, spinach, bananas and cinnamon
Romaine and spring mix salad with honey mustand, chicken, gorgonzola, cranberries, and walnuts
Chocolate chip quest bar
Turkey burger on whole wheat bun with spinach
Dessert: Greek vanilla yogurt, marionberries, cinnamon and chocolate PB2
I'd say that was a lot better than my usual diet of egg and cheese cibatta with tatertots, subway for lunch and fast food for dinner. It's all about making healthier changes one day at a time. I'm also taking my Advocare products. Spark is my coffee...it contains the same amount of caffeine but also has 21 vitamins and minerals to keep my energy high for the whole day without feeling jittery. Catalyst I take in the morning and at night. It is a branched chain amino acid that helps preserve lean muscle mass and help you have a more toned and cut look which is exactly what I'm going for. Then there's the MNS (metabolic nutrition system) which is essentially Advocare's vitamin pack. It's loaded with tons of great things: pro-biotic, calcium, thermogenics, multivitamin and fish oil supplements. I'm going to be consistent at taking these three things while eating clean and working out! I'm excited to see my progress especially since I'm planning a trip to Cabo in July 2014. Time to get to work!!!
