every man has his breaking point

I'm working from home today. I don't do this all that often because I just don't care for it. Maybe I'm too much of a people person or maybe it's that I'm too cheap to use my own printer for work stuff and there is only so much I can get done without printing.

ah but why am I working from home?

lemme tell ya

For some time our DVR has been freezing up while we're watching a program. Usually whatever it is we have taped is also available on demand so we can find it. The downside is that you can't fast forward so not only do you have to let it run to catch up to the point in the show where it froze, but you also can't fast forward past the commercials.

Annoying but not worth really dealing with calling and waiting around for someone to maybe show up or not. We once had no one show up, we called, got ugly, and someone came out. Exactly one year later out of the blue a guy came to the door. Yup they had made that appointment for the wrong YEAR - awesome.

Anyway things changed rather dramatically Sunday evening.

We watched the Panthers - Dolphins game while recording the UNC-Louisville basketball game. I actually saw the score on facebook so I told my husband that even though we're not that great this year and Louisville is #3 he really really should watch the game.

You see where this is going right?

Exactly. About halfway through the second half the recording froze.

My husband who is generally very zen-like about things had a total psychotic break.

and so here I sit at my kitchen table with my work laptop awaiting a technician

I don't mind really. It's horrible out there, lower 30's and raining. A good day to hide out indoors really.

He actually did show up and we haven't had any freezes since. He said that some guy called Sunday begging someone to come out so he wouldn't have to go to his brother-in-law's to watch the game.

I wonder if they tend to get more calls during a busy sports time.

Your husband's reaction made me laugh! LOL I guess there is always a trigger and that was his. LOL

Well, I do hope the service tech arrives on time and fixes the problem. Our local cable company has really gone out of their way to make certain that service is their #1 point. I just wish they'd stop raising their prices every month. Oh well.

1 year off????? Seriously? WOW ... I have not heard that one before. I guess I had better not complain about the stoopid 4 hour window they always ask to have!

Anyway, here's to a Happy Turkey Day for you!

PS ~ 1 year??? I am still kinda blown away by that.
