I need to go back shopping. I am in need of a windsuit or something for my trek home. Last years winter coat, while warm, is bulky and heavy and just not what I need for my long walks. I also need some pants or leggings like we used to wear back in the 60's to keep our legs warm. I've been looking online but now I truly need to hit some stores and see what is available locally before I order online. Plus, honestly, I'm not sure what size to order. Does it run smaller than normal clothing? Bigger? I hate shopping and especially during the madness that is the holiday season. But (there always is one) now is when I need the stuff. I'm dropping DD off at my sister's on Wednesday for a baking session so I will venture out then and see what I can locate in her part of the state. Should probably pick up a new pair of walking shoes too. My current ones have at least 500 miles on them and are getting a bit worn. Surprised me when I picked them up this morning to take into school. Wow, I've been busy.

    shopping can be a pain, but try to find something fun about it, you're buying new things because the old is TOO BIG! Yahoo! Yippee! WHEEEEEEE!

Sometimes you can find a salesperson who is knowledgable about the sport or climate conditions you are looking to work out in. If you work in schools do you have a chance to talk to a team coach or PE teacher? they may be able to give you some suggestions! Network!

and buy whatever in an outrageous color that makes you grin! emoticon

    When I was training to walk a 1/2 marathon in the winter by the river, it was down right chilly! There were days I was almost blown off the path. Rain, snow, ice, and don't forget not to step on the green stuff on the path: duck doo-doo! What I ended up doing is wearing silk glove liners in my leather gloves, wearing a hat with ear flaps, a sweatshirt under a heavy jacket and a pair of tights under my pants. Oh, and wool socks. Kept me warm!

Remember regarding sizing: each year they take the sizes and drop down the number by 1: vanity sizing. So if we wore a size 8 pant at 100 lbs, that would be a 4 or 6 now. Geesh!

    You have been busy! I'm with you not liking to shop in the craziness, but you need the things. I pulled out my thermal underwear today to wear under my pants because my knees and thighs were cold walking. Hope you have a lot of success finding what you need.
