Day 2 No Caffeine. Day 36 Calorie Correction Course.

Last night, after my first day of no caffeine, I was so tired that I laid down at 6 p.m. and was out for the night! Yikes! This is day 2 and I'm awaiting the arrival of the awful headache. Since there is none yet, it could be that either I have so much cumulative caffeine that my body is still running on, or weaning to a quarter of a small mug eliminated the headache. Oh, that would be wonderful.

This is day 36 of my calorie correction course and I've been wayyyy over range for the past 4 days. But still not where I was before starting on this course. What really sabotages my efforts are two things; when I see a plateau (which my body is very fond of staying on), I mentally get discouraged. And then there's the problem of buying stuff at the store which I tell myself will be part of my lesson of portion control. Unfortunately, it doesn't work out that way. Best not to bring it home at all. Sad, but true. (smiling)

I already have my plan set about the pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. I'll be cutting it up and freezing it for a rainy day of small portions within daily calorie range.

    You are doing awesome being caffeine free.
Plateaus are challenging, but I know you have committing to doing what you need to do for you.
Some plateaus are just setting a new starting point, our bodies are resetting. You will move forward again.

    One thing at a time - you could be fluctuating due to a chemical change from detoxing the caffeine out of your system. I will be working on the caffeine after I get trained for the new position - to much at one time sets me up for failure .
I know I had to be brave at the store today -I love to walk there cause I can only carry so much home!!! Have to trick myself - although I did pick up some raw chestnuts that I am going to Roast Tonight - Good plan for the pie!     Ok I have my parts crossed for no headache at all for you:)
Yeah, I try that portion control lesson too, and it rarely works for me either, so I just have to abstain, which I end up being happy with once I get it going.

    I found I slept much better once the caffeine was gone as well.

I'm the same way. I am better off to not have temptation around. I don't deal well with it.

    If it goes in my cart, it tends to hitch itself to my wagon and stay. I have a lot of friends who tend to "gift" homemade goodies that are not of the sort I make. If I'm the only in the family who eats it, I don't make it, cause I'll eat it all. But when a friend gifts it to me...I end up eating it all.

    I so commend you for eliminating coffee. As I've said to others, I'm impressed if not inspired. Every time I try, I get withdrawal in spades - talk about your headaches!! And as long as I have my two morning cups a day, I'm good.

Love your pie idea.

    Don`t go cold turkey off of caffeine, you should slowly decrease it. Caffeine is a drug so your body will need time to adjust. emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Great plan to freeze small pieces of pie.

It is hard to limit portions of some foods. I've been carefully counting out or weighing things like crackers, baked tortilla chips, sweet treats because there is no way I will stick to one serving if I have the box or bag right there with me.

Crossing my fingers the headache won't materialize.

    I too have been over my calorie range off and on this past week! I really don't think I would ever try to go off coffee, I love it too much and dr;s now have decided it's not so bad for you. But if you are loosing sleep it may be right for you. I wish you the best with it. Take care of your self

    Good luck on day two of no caffeine. That is showing strength.
Your pie idea is a good one. The freezer is a great way to get the food out of sight.

    You are going to make it. I was a pot & 1/2 guy for 50 years. Now I never brew it at home. I still have coffee at church once a week. The rest of the time, I drink hot water with lemon juice in it. Works for me. I'm past 2 years on the new program.

    Your goal of getting off coffee is commendable. I do hope you do not even have an inkling of a detox headache.

As to the indulgences and going over calories: You'll keep your thumb on this. If you take your thumb off, you'll notice and get it under control.

Plateaus are testing grounds. Nothing more unless we make them more.
