FOOD ADDICTION GROUP

Sunday, November 24, 2013

I was at a birthday party yesterday and had an interesting conversation with people I don't usually talk with....One of my goals that I am working on is to be more engaged with people...
We were talking about weight loss and she was so surprised by my weight loss, she really did not believe me....I have known this women for over 15 years, she is the Aunt of my Nieces's husband, so not a real close friend or family member...I asked don't you remember me from the wedding, she said no I really don't...I reminded her that we did readings at the Wedding together, she took a deep breathe and said...OMG that was you....it took her several minutes to stop saying ...OMG ...OMG...okay so how did you do it....I told her about Spark People and then my Niece gave us a pamphet from a group called
FOOD ADDICTS IN RECOVERY....she told us a girl at her job goes to this group and has lost almost 200 pounds...and said she has kept the weight off for a couple of years....
I thought I would pass the website along, the group is from Woburn MA. but was told they are every where, I live in Ohio.....

If anyone has gone or knows about it please share the info....

www.foodaddicts.org

there is a phone number as well.....781-932-6300 and you can e-mail them at
fa@foodaddicts.org

there is good info on there website...there is a list of things to see if you might be a food addict....
you don't have to be over weight to be a food addict...

Please let me know what you find out or maybe what you know....

Have a healthy week, only 4 days till Thanksgiving...

Hi Kit: Yes I went to FA and lost 60 pounds. It really worked but was a lot of work. You are doing great. When I left thinking I could do this on my own I gained 30 pounds back so now I am coming back and I am committed to doing this program even though parts of it so it don't really appeal to me. It's the only thing that ever worked for me. So I am back on the food plan and working the steps and meditating every day. Good luck to you. Your story is inspirational!

I went to a few Overeaters Anonymous meetings about a year ago, at the suggestion of my therapist. They weren't for me, I felt very much out of place and had trouble relating to other members' stories. It was a mixture of overweight people, those who had been overweight, and thin people. There were binge eaters and bulimics. It was very intense. If something like that works for people, go for it. But it wasn't what I needed to help me succeed.

That is very interesting Kitt. I have heard of Overeaters Anonymous, but not this group. I am sure that they help thousands of people.
